I don’t remember learning to run equipment.
I remember watching my dad.

Standing close enough to feel the ground shake.
Watching the bucket curl, the tracks move, the work get done.
Not asking questions. Just paying attention.

Back then, nobody sat us down and explained it all.
There wasn’t a lesson plan.
There was just time… and presence… and a man doing his job while a kid soaked it all in.

Most of what we learned came from moments like this.
Quiet ones.
Unplanned ones.
The kind you don’t realize matter until years later.

You don’t remember the first time you touched the controls.
You remember where you stood.
Who you watched.
And how you knew, somehow, that one day you’d be the one in the seat.

This is how it starts.
Not with instructions… but with observation.
Not with teaching… but with showing up.

And one day, that little boy won’t remember the machine.
He’ll remember the man.
