Ready. Set. Race!
Back for its 127th season, the Around the Bay Road Race, one of Hamilton's oldest and most recognizable events returns to the First Ontario Centre!
This year, there will also be an option for people to complete the race remotely on their own time.
Here are some interesting facts about this exciting annual event:
* First run in 1894, three years before the Boston Marathon, it's the oldest long-distance race in North America.
* It draws tens of thousands of runners and spectators from near and far, including top ranked international athletes including Boston Marathon winners and Olympic gold medallists.
* Runners can choose to participate in either a 5k or 30k race. Both routes offer flat and hillier, more demanding sections around Hamilton’s beautiful harbour.
