Light Lines

Not every space wants a fully luminous ceiling. Sometimes light should be a line - clean, deliberate, architectural.

Barrisol Light Lines integrate crisp bands of illumination directly into the stretched membrane: no visible fixtures, no trim, just precise geometry of light across a seamless surface. Run them straight for a minimal look or in patterns that guide the eye through a space.

Lighting and ceiling, designed as one.

Pools, Spas, and Wet Rooms

Humidity destroys conventional ceilings. Drywall rots, paint peels, metal fixtures corrode - and above a pool, maintenance means scaffolding over water.

Barrisol is built for exactly this environment. The membrane is waterproof, resistant to humidity and condensation, and unaffected by pool chemistry in the air. It won't rot, flake, or grow mold.

That's why you'll find Barrisol stretch ceilings over pools and spas around the world: they're often the only ceiling that survives the room.

Light Control and Uniformity

Backlit Barrisol delivers true, glare-free illumination — the kind needed for everyday tasks, visual displays, and events alike.

Because the membrane diffuses light across its entire surface, illumination is even from edge to edge: no hot spots, no visible fixtures, no shadows. The ceiling itself becomes the light source, eliminating the clutter of pot lights and panels overhead.

One surface. Uniform light. Total control over brightness and colour temperature.

The Solution for Rooms That Echo

A flat ceiling: beautiful to look at, unbearable to hold a meeting under. Most acoustic fixes mean visible panels or baffles that fight the design.

A microperforated Barrisol ceiling does the opposite — it absorbs noise while reading as a single, seamless surface. You keep the clean architectural look and gain control over conversation quality, sound levels, and the overall atmosphere of the room.

In offices and public spaces where noise control matters most, Barrisol membranes can be microperforated to meet the specific NRC requirements of the environment. Quiet, without compromise.

Just. Perfect. ✨

📍 OpenText Boardroom | Waterloo, ON

When the brief calls for flawless, even illumination with zero compromise — this is the result.

For OpenText's boardroom in Waterloo, we paired two Barrisol membranes to engineer a lighting solution that's as technical as it is beautiful:

04050 Sirius — the primary diffuser, delivering that seamless, cloud-like glow across the entire ceiling plane. No hotspots, no harsh edges, just pure uniform light.

04080 Polaris Dust Shield — layered behind the Sirius to maintain the integrity of the diffusion over time, while keeping dust and debris from ever reaching the membrane surface. The result stays as clean on day 1,000 as it does on day one.

Zero glare. Zero compromise. Total control.

Clean. Crisp. Considered.

📍 GFL Environmental | Toronto, ON

A white lacquered Barrisol stretch ceiling installed across the boardroom and reception area of the GFL Toronto office - and the finish speaks for itself.

The membrane used is Blanc Orchidée, one of Barrisol's most refined whites. But what sets it apart beyond aesthetics is its 89% light reflection rate.

That number matters. A highly reflective ceiling bounces light back into the space more efficiently, meaning less energy consumption, better distribution of natural and artificial light, and a room that simply feels brighter and more open without adding a single fixture. Where a painted ceiling absorbs and dulls, Blanc Orchidée gives the light back to the room.

Seamless, flawless, and built to last - it's the ceiling detail that works as hard as it looks good.

Where architecture meets sculpture. 🌊

📍 Ontario Power Generation | Toronto, ON

The Barrisol Manta by Ross Lovegrove commands the main foyer of Ontario Power Generation — a made-to-order statement piece that you simply cannot walk past without stopping.

Designed by one of the world's most celebrated industrial designers, the Manta collection embodies the meeting point of organic form and precision engineering. Barrisol's signature stretch membrane technology made it possible — flexible enough to mirror nature, refined enough to perform.

This is what it looks like when craft becomes architecture.
