Not all furnace filters are created equal! 👀💨

And if you've ever stood in the filter aisle wondering why there are approximately 47 different options... this one's for you. 😂

Here's the scoop: furnace filters have something called a MERV rating, which tells you how effectively they capture airborne particles.

🏡 MERV 1–4: Basic filtration for larger particles like lint and dust.
🌿 MERV 5–8: Everyday filtration that catches things like dust, pollen and mould spores.
🐾 MERV 9–12: Finer filtration that can help capture pet dander and smaller airborne particles.
💨 MERV 13–16: Higher-efficiency filtration that captures even finer particles, but may restrict airflow in systems that aren't designed for it.

Here's the important part: a higher MERV rating isn't automatically better for YOUR furnace! Your system needs the right balance between filtration and airflow.

And don't forget to check your filter regularly. Pets, renovations and even wildfire season can mean it needs changing more often.

Before you get a furnace quote, make sure you know what you’re actually getting. 👀🔥

A new furnace is a big investment in your home, and choosing the right system should involve more than comparing the number at the bottom of two quotes.

Ask why a particular system is being recommended. Find out what’s included, what warranty comes with it, whether permits are required, what payment options are available, and most importantly, who will be there to service it afterward.

There are no silly questions when it comes to your home and your money. A good quote should leave you with fewer questions, not more. 💙
