Trees add significant value to our surroundings, so we aim to preserve them whenever we can. Still, there are times when removing a tree becomes necessary.

The process of removing a tree is often complex and demands specialized knowledge, experience, and training to ensure it's done safely and effectively. Experienced arborists are able to assess trees and their locations to determine whether the removal will be straightforward or require extra care.

Contact us at 905-827-9103 or email [email protected] if you have any questions about trees on your property that may be a safety and liability concern.

Does Your Tree Have Large Tree Cavities?

Cavities form when the trunk is physically damaged, whether by people, weather, or animals. Fungi, bacteria, or wildlife then enlarge these cavities, which can appear anywhere on a tree but are especially concerning if they affect the trunk or major branches. Filling a cavity can enhance appearance, encourage wound healing, and block water, insects, and animals from entering the hollow.

Ponds and Trees

Ideal pond trees grow well in moist soil, protect against erosion, and offer shade without harming liners. Japanese Maples, Willows and Red Maples are strong choices. For small ponds, Dogwoods require minimal upkeep.

If you have any questions about trees around your pond or need overhanging branches trimmed, give us a call at 905-827-9103. We are here to help you with all your tree and shrub services.

The Box Tree Moth is an invasive pest in southern Ontario that can quickly damage Boxwood shrubs due to its fast reproduction and strong appetite.

Here are some signs that you have Box Tree Moths:

- They feed voraciously on boxwood leaves, leaving behind heavily chewed, skeletonized leaves.

- Severe infestations lead to defoliation, weakening the plants.

- Similar in appearance to spider nests, they produce intense webbing, often containing dark "sawdust-like" excrement.

If you see green caterpillars with a black head or adult moths with white wings with light brown margins, you have box tree moths.

From May through September, regularly inspect your Boxwood shrubs for signs of box tree moth infestation.

If you think your shrubs are infected, call our team immediately at 905-827-9103 for an insect and disease management assessment.

If your trees aren't blooming while others are, don't worry—different species bud at different times. Birch and willows bloom early for longer food production, while oaks and elms wait to avoid early spring chills. Healthy buds are green inside. If you don’t see buds or find shriveled or black ones, there may be an issue. Contact us if you're concerned about your trees not budding.

April 22 is Earth Day! 🌎

Earth Day is celebrated each year to promote environmental awareness and encourage people to protect nature. Many choose to mark the occasion by participating in park cleanups or volunteering at tree planting events.

Planting a single tree can help absorb pollutants and carbon dioxide, which leads to cleaner air. Trees also produce oxygen, essential for both humans and animals.

As temperatures get warmer, trees enter their active growth phase. This period is optimal for applying a layer of mulch around the base of trees and shrubs to conserve soil moisture and inhibit w**d development. Mulching is most effective when performed in mid to late spring, after the soil has sufficiently warmed and prior to the onset of w**d activity, typically between mid and late April.
