We hear it all the time: “I shocked my pool, but it’s still yellow!” Surprise—it’s not algae, it’s Poppy and the pollen crew! Pollen is already dead and wrapped in a shell so tough, even most chemicals can’t break it down. That yellow haze? It’s pollen’s calling card, not a chemistry fail.

Here’s what you need to know:
- Not Algae: Pollen is protected by sporopollenin, one of nature’s most resilient shells. Standard pool shock won’t cut it.
- Real Solutions: Think physics, not chemistry! Ultra-fine mesh skimmers, running your filter longer, and using clarifiers like Dazzle Clarifying Tabs, Jack’s Magic Super Tabs, Clear Rebound—or the ultimate, AFMng—are the real heroes.

🌫️ Wildfire Smoke & Your Pool: What You Need to Know! 🌫️

With wildfires impacting communities across the country, even pools far from the flames are feeling the effects. Smoke, ash, and soot can travel for hundreds of kilometers and settle in your pool, causing water quality issues and extra maintenance headaches. Here’s what you should watch for and how to keep your pool sparkling:

🔥 What happens to your pool?
- Elevated pH levels
- Increased sanitizer demand (chlorine/bromine gets used up faster)
- Filters clogging more quickly
- Water quality issues from phosphorous, nitrogen, and carbon

Our Top Tips:
✅ Test pH and chlorine/bromine every day. Ash can spike pH and eat up sanitizer!
✅ Use a quality pH reducer like Dazzle pH Minus or Pristiva Acid Enhance – but keep an eye on your alkalinity, too.
✅ Keep sanitizer levels between 3–5 ppm, and be ready to “shock” your pool if needed. Dazzle Energy or Premium Unstabilized Chlorine is great for big demands, and Pristiva Premium Shock is perfect for salt pools.
✅ Be proactive: Use Dazzle Phos Cleanse Plus, Pure Wow Assure, or Bye-Bye Phos tabs to prevent phosphates from causing algae and clarity problems.
✅ Powerful enzymes like Dazzle Clear Rebound or Jack’s Magic Super Pacs help break down smoke, ash, and even chemical flame retardants.
✅ Keep your filter clean! Backwash or rinse when pressure increases by 5 psi, and consider Dazzle Filter Enhance or Clarifying Tablets for extra help.
✅ Direct your return jets down at a 45° angle to maximize circulation and filtration.
