🌱 Topsoil Delivered — Efficient, Affordable, and Done Right!

Four loads of topsoil today! Sometimes, with the right equipment, a good operator, and everything lined up, a job can be done pretty quickly. Today’s work took about four hours, including four trips to the pit.

At Reid’s Excavation, I do my best to work efficiently, get things done right, and save my customers both time and money.

I know times are tough right now. The cost of living is high, bills keep coming, and sometimes even getting basic maintenance or improvements done around your property can be a challenge.

That’s where I try to help. Whether it’s moving material, cleaning up your property, tackling a small project, or helping you find a better deal on materials, I’ll always do my best to make things easier and more affordable. If I have a good connection or can pass along a bit of savings, I’m happy to share that with my customers.

Another great day of repeat work for a returning client! Always appreciate the opportunity to come back and help improve a property.

This time around, we cleared out debris, rubbish, and overgrown trees and vegetation along the side of the property to prepare for a new fence line planned for the spring. We also excavated roughly 8–10 inches of soil to help remove some invasive plant species that tend to take over and crowd out the natural vegetation.

Luckily, there were plenty of large boulders and stones on the property that we could put to good use, building up the retaining wall we worked on during the last visit. It all came together really well!

The goal was to clean things up while respecting the areas that were important to the family and leaving the property in good shape for future plans.

Once the weather cooperates, I’ll hopefully be back to bring in some topsoil, fill in the excavated area, and level everything out to finish things off.

Thanks again to my client for having me back! It’s always nice to see a project come together one step at a time.

A little local job at the Huronia Handgun Club in Penetanguishene this week! 🇨🇦

Helped clean up part of the old shooting area by removing some old material and hauling it away to the dump. A fairly simple job, but a pretty cool experience!

One of the things I enjoy about this line of work is getting out to different places around the area, discovering local businesses and activities, and meeting some great people along the way. It was interesting to learn a little more about the local shooting community and see what goes on right here in our own backyard.

Spent most of the morning opening up some bush trails, pushing some pretty big trees and logs back into the bush, ripping out a few stumps, and helping a client get rid of an old hot tub. I thought the hot tub might hold together a little better, but I guess it had other plans! 😂

One thing I’ve really come to appreciate with the excavator is just how much you can accomplish in a short amount of time. Whether it’s opening up bush trails, creating horse or ATV trails, building dirt bike tracks and jumps, or just making better use of your property, a lot can be done in a day or two.

If you’ve got a property you’d like to transform, some trails you’d like to open up, or just a few jobs that need doing, give me a shout. It’s amazing what we can get done with the right equipment!

Another job wrapped up over the last couple of days.

Helped a client make some more usable space at the back of his property. It was very, very rocky ground, so having a couple different buckets on the excavator definitely came in handy. We were able to work through it and get the area opened up nicely.

In the end, we reclaimed roughly 30’ x 70’ of backyard space that can now be used for storage and whatever else the client needs.

The client was there for most of the job and was great to work with. Being able to talk through things as we went and having him involved really helped the job move along. I think we ended up getting a lot accomplished for the money and made a pretty big difference to the property.

Always nice to finish a job knowing the client got good value out of it.

Been working on a black chain-link fence in Orillia over the last few days, and it’s coming along nicely! 🖤

This is my first time taking on a project like this, and there’s definitely been a bit of a learning curve. But I’m pretty pleased with how it’s turning out so far!

Hoping to get the finishing touches and gate installed over the weekend. I’ll definitely be a little more prepared if and when I take on another fencing project. You learn as you go!

One of the great things about taking on new projects is making good connections, learning the trade, and finding better pricing on materials. I’ve made some good connections through this one, and I’m looking forward to passing those savings on to my customers.

At Reid’s Excavation, I’m always looking for ways to keep costs down while providing good, honest work.

Another pretty cool project for Reid’s Excavation. 🚜

Spent last evening and today helping a local farmer in Tiny breathe some new life into this old nostalgic barn.

Over the years, parts of the foundation and old log wall had started to sag, droop and deteriorate. We carefully removed some of the rotten wall, replaced sections of the footings, and are rebuilding the wall to help stabilize the structure and hopefully give this old barn another 10–20 years of life.

There’s something pretty special about working on these old barns and seeing the history they carry. Not every job is about building something brand new — sometimes it’s about preserving what’s already there.

I really enjoy working with local people on projects like this. Every job is a little different, and getting the chance to help preserve a piece of local history makes the work that much more rewarding.

Looking forward to seeing this one standing strong again. 🇨🇦
