Stuwix has been working with Klassen Group (formally known as Valley Carriers Ltd) for the last 3 years bush grinding debris piles post-harvest turning into hog fuel which is then hauled to their yard in Merritt. The 2025 season we ground approx. 60% of our debris piles vs burning and continue to increase that number as much as possible. This video was taken on Thynne Mtn on Coldwater Indian Band license.

Stuwix is 2/3 of the way through harvesting the first burn salvage permit in the Mine Creek fire that occurred in the summer/fall of 2025. Expedited layout, communications with Coldwater Indian Band and other Bands along with coordination of activities with other users such as the Merritt Snowmobile Club made the burn salvage possible this Winter. The permit will be planted this spring.

The Mine Creek Fire severely impacted the Coldwater River Valley in early September. The fire occurred in Stuwix’s and BCTS operating areas so both worked together in coordination with local Nlaka’pamux and Syilx communities to plan and implement fire salvage where values and risk allowed. To date, field engineering is complete, watershed, terrain, visual, utilities assessments have been completed and salvage harvesting started in late October and will continue through the Winter.
