Hello,

We are starting work on the Snowshed Hill this afternoon. A left lane closure will be in place both directions until June 30 to complete leftover drain work from last summer. Speed has been reduced to 60km/hr both directions from Zopkios to the Snowshed.

Please obey traffic control signage and speed drops. If you have any concerns or would like to report something (downed sign, cones, etc.) please call our office.

Thank you

Good morning,

The long weekend is upon us, and we've had reports of light snowfall on the Coquihalla. Road temperatures are preventing any accumulation, however, please adjust driving speeds as slippery sections may be encountered, depending on location specific conditions. Travel safe everyone.

Good afternoon,

As we near the long weekend, some forecasts are calling for colder, wet, weather conditions. While any significant road accumulations are unlikely, a mix of rain and snow can't be ruled out. Please understand slushy and/or slippery conditions may be experienced periodically over the long weekend. We will continue to provide updates as forecasts become more clear.

Reports of a vehicle fire at the Zopkios on-ramp Northbound. Expect minor delays or short closure. Check Drive BC for updates.

❄️Spring Storm Alert!❄️

Snowfall will impact the Coquihalla at least one more time. We are anticipating a moderate snowfall today with forecasts calling between 4-10cm, and an additional 10cm is possible tonight. With temps warming throughout the day today, a mix of snow and rain will be possible. Please anticipate slushy road conditions if travelling the Coq.

A reminder that winter tires are mandatory until April 30th for select mountain passes, including the Coquihalla. If you have swapped tires already, or are not prepared for winter driving conditions, please do not travel the Coq today. Weather looks to back off late tonight, around midnight.

Check for updates on road conditions, and plan your trips accordingly. Be safe everyone!

Good evening,

As we progress towards the seeming apex of this storm cycle, we’d like to once more remind travellers to expect severe winter driving conditions for the Coquihalla between Hope & Merritt. If you must travel tonight, come prepared for slow downs or delays.

🚨More than once the last couple days our operators have had to fight for room on the road while plowing to make conditions safe. Once again, please give our equipment ample room to work. To simplify - if you see yellow flashing lights, back off the plows and wait for them to pull over and let you pass. 🚨

Make sure you check for updates. Travel safe everyone!

Good afternoon,

Snow is expected to continue along the Coquihalla this evening. Environment Canada has issued a travel warning, stating 15-20cm of snow is expected between Hope and Merritt. As such, Coquihalla Protocol is now in effect.
Snow on the Coquihalla will likely subside early tomorrow morning, but return around 10AM as we continue to experience this winter storm. Another 4-8cm are expected tomorrow.

The rest of the service area will not see much snow tonight or tomorrow, however, it does appear snow will return area wide late Tuesday night through Wednesday, although accumulations are more uncertain at this time. We will continue to update as the storm progresses.

Please only travel the Coquihalla if necessary, and as always, watch for equipment as operators work to maintain and restore safe travel conditions. Yellow flashing lights mean our trucks are in winter work mode and require more room. Make sure you check for updates, so you know before you go.

Good afternoon,

The Loon Lake Rest Area on Hwy 97c will be closed on Thursday, March 5 due to a planned power outage for power line work. The rest area will be closed just before 9AM and is expected to re-open at 4PM. Pit toilets both east and west of the rest area will be open.

Thank you for your understanding.

❄️Winter Storm Alert ❄️

A snowfall warning has been issued for the Coquihalla. Environment Canada is warning drivers of a potential for 40-60cm of snow Wednesday - Friday between Hope & Merritt. Crews are prepped and ready to respond. We would like to remind travelers once more to please give our operators ample room while working, for your safety and theirs. Yellow flashing lights signal winter work mode and require you to distance yourself more from the equipment.

We will do our best to update throughout the storm with any significant changes in weather. Please check DriveBC for most up to date road conditions, and be sure to adjust travel plans accordingly.
