Drones + Stockpile Surveys = Better Data
Drones have become an incredible tool for surveying stockpiles, giving us fast, accurate data while keeping people and equipment out of areas where they don’t need to be.
But when you’re trying to fly in three different pits near a local airport, the survey work takes more than just launching a drone.
Coordination with local air traffic control is a critical part of the process. DJI may have relaxed some of its flight unlocking zones around airports, but that doesn’t mean the airspace is automatically safe or that the regulatory requirements disappear.
You still need to know your airspace, understand the risks, know how to operate safely, and know who to talk to.
For some of our projects, calls to NAV CANADA in Williams Lake help coordinate special requests and ensure everyone who needs to know about the operation is in the loop.
Good drone work isn’t just about getting the shot or collecting the data. It’s about doing it safely, professionally, and with proper coordination. 🚁📊
