❄️ SHIFT INTO WINTER ❄️
Winter is coming, and now is the time to make sure your vehicle is ready for the changing road conditions.
Take a few minutes to check your winter tires before the snow and ice arrive. Many tires have built-in tread wear indicators that can help give you an idea of how much tread remains, with indicators showing levels such as 80%, 60% and 40%. If your tires are getting worn, now is the time to have them inspected and replaced if necessary.
🚗 Know your B.C. winter tire requirements
On designated B.C. highways, winter tires are required from October 1 to March 31. To meet B.C.’s definition of a winter tire, tires must be in good condition, have at least 3.5 mm of tread depth, and display either the 3-peaked mountain and snowflake symbol or the M+S (Mud and Snow) marking on the sidewall. Before heading into winter, also make sure your vehicle is prepared with:
🧊 Proper tire pressure
🧊 Good windshield wipers and washer fluid
🧊 Emergency supplies and blankets
🧊 A flashlight and extra batteries
🧊 Jumper cables or a booster pack
🧊 Scraper and snow brush
🧊 Extra food and water for longer trips
🧊 Chains or other traction devices when required
Winter driving can change quickly. Check your tires, prepare your vehicle, check road conditions and give yourself extra time.
