Just dropped off this harvest to the Community Cooler which is in the back room of the Lemonade Stand on Quillchena.
Carrots, beans and chard picked fresh from the Community Gardens behind the hospital.
There are also some donated eggs in the fridge from a generous supporter.
Take what you need and donate what you can only if you’re able, there’s a donation jar in the fridge.

We started harvesting from the gardens last week. Potatoes, carrots, beets, beans, cucumbers and peppers. We were fortunate to pack 10 little bags with a variety of produce and hand deliver to gift to some wonderful Seniors !

We at the Community Gardens have not been posting regularly this season, our apologies, it’s just been such a crazy hectic Summer so far !
But that’s all about to change !!
We had a table at the Valley Graze Night Market. It was our first at an event. It was very successful and a great fun learning experience ! We hope to have the opportunities to participate in many more community events.
In May we added three separate bee houses to the gardens and I’m so happy to see all the houses have a mix of Mason and Leafcutter Bees setting up homes.
I was lucky enough to video a Leafcutter bee working very hard. I’ll post the video next.

A big surprise find on Thursday when Pat and I were prepping the beds for planting !!
I’m Vegan so tried making some ‘carrot bacon’ with it and it turned out sooo yummy !
