Heavy Equipment Operator – Fence Construction / Right-of-Way (Merritt, BC)
We are hiring an experienced Excavator and Dozer Operator for fence construction and right-of-way projects across British Columbia.
Pay Rate: 34.00-44.00 per hour
Shop Location: Merritt, BC
Work Location: Projects throughout British Columbia (camp provided when required)
Requirements:
- Must have solid experience running excavators (75 and 135 size classes)
- Must have proven experience operating dozers
- Forestry or right-of-way operating experience preferred
- Physically fit and capable of demanding outdoor work
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Code 20 trailer endorsement is a plus)
- Ability to stay in work camp during the week when required
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with ground crew using hand signals
Key Duties:
- Clearing stumps and rocks along the right-of-way with excavator
- Following up with bulldozer to smooth, widen, and straighten trails
- Operating smaller excavator to drive fence posts
- Performing greasing, preventative maintenance, and daily pre-trip inspections on equipment
