Deck Restoration Complete in Annan! 🏡
This was one of the most challenging restoration projects I've taken on.
Over the years, this 35-year-old deck had accumulated three layers of failing solid stain on the deck boards. We completely removed those layers using paint st*****rs, extensive sanding, and thorough preparation to restore the natural beauty of the wood and prepare it for Cutek penetrating oil.
The railings presented an even bigger challenge, with 6+ layers of old oil-based coating built up over decades. We stripped and sanded as much as possible, but after 35 years of coatings, removing every layer proved extremely difficult.
This project included:
✔️ Extensive sanding and preparation of all painted surfaces.
✔️ One coat of Peel Stop on the bare wood of the pillars, railings, and underside, followed by one full coat of primer and two full coats of paint.
✔️ Cutek penetrating oil applied to the deck boards to protect the wood while enhancing its natural appearance.
Projects like this are a great reminder that proper preparation is what makes the difference in any paint job. In fact, more than half of the labour on this project was preparation alone. The transformation speaks for itself.
The Cutek finish was applied after these photos were taken. We'll be sharing photos of the finished deck once the oil has fully cured.
