360°kids provides safe housing, employment programs, education support, and life-skills training to help youth rebuild their lives and move toward independence. Their work gives vulnerable young people the opportunity to build a brighter and more stable future.

At CKG Design & Build, we believe the spaces we build should strengthen communities. Supporting organizations like 360°kids allows us to use our skills to create environments where youth can feel safe, supported, and empowered.

This renovation transformed a previously underused basement into a modern, comfortable extension of the home — complete with a brand-new kitchen and full bathroom.

Legal 2-Bedroom Basement Unit Transformation ✅

Our client wanted a fully legal 2-bedroom basement rental unit, and this is what we delivered:

✨ What we did:
✅ Removed the main floor laundry / powder room to create space for a new side entrance staircase
✅ Relocated the exterior door + powder room to fit the new layout
✅ Fully framed the basement for:
• Shared laundry (upstairs + basement)
• Kitchen + living room
• 2 bedrooms + full bathroom
✅ Installed 1 new egress window (emergency exit) + enlarged 3 existing windows
✅ Upgraded with fire-rated construction to meet building code
✅ Completed all new plumbing + electrical throughout the basement
✅ Finished with a brand new kitchen + accessible bathroom

• Installed a massive 12-ft patio door + a brand-new entrance to the garage.
• Removed old popcorn ceilings and finished everything smooth and sleek.
• Reimagined the laundry room for style and efficiency.
• Upgraded every detail: new interior doors, trim, baseboards, pot lights, and light fixtures.
• Transformed a second-floor bedroom into a luxurious walk-in closet + ensuite retreat.
• Laid down gorgeous new engineered hardwood and tile flooring.
• Renovated 4 bathrooms + 1 powder room with fresh modern finishes.
• Built an entirely new staircase to both the second floor and the basement.

This staircase renovation took a tired, carpeted layout and elevated it into a bold, modern feature of the home. Light wood, matte black accents, and minimalist design brought everything together.

Before:
The original staircase featured a curved design with worn carpeted steps, dated white spindles, and a dark handrail. While once charming, the look no longer reflected the modern style the homeowner envisioned.

After:
A complete reinvention—this new staircase delivers clean lines, a fresh palette, and striking modern details.
