Markham Garage Doors was founded by Chris Dale and Kevin Chappel both graduated from university in class of 99’ with a Business Degree. Chris Dale grew up loving everything mechanical, loved working with his hands and always wanted to figure out how everything worked, which usually resulted in tearing things apart and rebuilding them. His obsession for design, innovation, and perfection was setting him up for success in his career. Chris and Kevin met back in high school and became friends. High school led to University and that led to the work force. Chris graduated and was looking for work not sure what was the best fit as he loved hands on work. He got a job with a Garage Door Company and requested to learn the installation end of the business. Chris learned quickly and enjoyed the mechanics of residential and commercial installations. He moved from installs to sales and enjoyed meeting new people daily and teaching them the differences between doors and installation practices. Still within the same company he moved indoors to VP of operations where he organized the daily routines of the technicians, controlled the purchasing of inventory, and researched new products. As much as he loved learning every aspect of the business Chris always wanted to own a business of his own. Kevin graduated and got a job with one of the biggest garage door manufacturing companies in Canada. Kevin was taught how the manufacturing and supply end of the business operated, and learned a lot about the design, construction and manufacturing of garage doors. His job was an account manager and organized the orders for smaller independent dealers. He left that company after several years to sell that same product for a medium sized independent company in York Region where Chris was currently working. Kevin enjoyed meeting home owners and as a result became very successful at sales. He was becoming a well known trusted salesman among homeowners, architects, and custom home builders. This is where Chris and Kevin’s dreams started to solidify; they both knew that in order to be happy they would have to create an entirely new company that they could call their own. They could see the potential in offering new products to customers. Existing business had been done one way for so long, that change was next to impossible, it was the push they needed. Markham Garage Doors Ltd was now open, from dream to reality in just nine years within the industry. Markham Garage Doors was set to change customer expectations of what shopping for a garage door should be like. Chris and Kevin opened the doors offering the largest variety of garage door styles and colours from several of the top manufactures in the industry. This was a totally different way of thinking.
