We like to say we are in the business of built-in organization!

When storage is the goal, we’ve got you covered. Built-in storage isn’t always as expensive as you might think—and the best part? It’s designed specifically around your space, your needs, and yes… all the “stuff.”

With our UGO line, we can get pretty creative when it comes to finding smart (and designer-looking) places to stash everything.

Ask, and you shall receive! This client asked for a custom unit to house an electric fireplace and a TV for their space. This unit is rift-cut oak, stained in hazelnut, blackened calcite lamineer and a slim shaker door.

We have a truly talented team of cabinet makers who help us with these super custom jobs. Although this hasn't been installed yet, the pictures show it staged in the fabrication shop before delivery to the client, to make sure no details are missed and it is in tip-top shape.

As we head into the weekend, we wanted to share a few of our recent two-toned kitchens- which is a pretty hot trend right now!

One of our favourite ways to bring a little colour and personality into a kitchen is by adding it to the base cabinets and/or island. We know white kitchens are timeless (and for good reason—they never really go out of style!), but that doesn’t mean your kitchen has to be all white. A little colour pop can totally change the feel of your kitchen.

Using a darker colour on the base cabinets or island helps ground the space and creates a warm, cozy, inviting feel. Keeping the upper cabinets light and bright helps the kitchen feel open and airy—and can even make smaller spaces feel a little more spacious.

Here are a few two-tone kitchens that we have done recently! Each of these examples is our UGO, our most cost-effective line!

It's a collaborative way to get the 'ol creative juices flowing and tackle your space's tricky design challenges. As much as we can work off your floor plans, there is something to be said for being in your actual space.

And now for a little disclaimer......

Please do not judge us too harshly on our video editing skills, or video-taking skills for that matter. We may be expert designers and kitchen dream-makers, but we are not video editors! So, instead, focus on our design skills, our awesome client service, and the quality of our cabinetry, and pretend you didn't notice that our video could be smoother and that we didn't capture nearly enough of the dog!

The ever-busy Max was out and about in Whistler last week, working on an install. Max is a pretty skilled photographer and nature buff, so we were lucky to get some ambiance with this install. Thank you, Max!

This project is finished up to countertop templating. Once the cabinets are in, the countertop supplier will template, and then the countertop can take up to two weeks to cut and install. These are some of the little things people don't always consider in their timeline. Since there are so many things to consider when embarking on a reno, we will be posting a free "What to expect when renovating". This guide covers much more than just the kitchen, so stay tuned for the link tomorrow.

Hello again!

As summer winds down and we get back into the swing of things, we are renewing our commitment to be more present on social media. We have so much interesting stuff to share that it really is a shame if we don’t actually share it!

So today we start with nothing more than reintroducing ourselves…
We are Blue Mountain Kitchens, a proud family business, located at 22380 Lougheed Highway in the heart of Maple Ridge. The OG Blue Mountain location, started by Jared, opened in 2013, and is where Mr. Mustache now calls home. It was a big risk to go all-in on the brick-and-mortar thing, but having a space where clients could come, touch and feel samples, and yank on drawers and inserts mattered.

We eventually moved to our current location at 22380 thanks to a great relationship with the Fuller Watson family- we even knocked down a wall so people could move freely between our shops. What started as a team of 1 is now a team of 7 + Dad (the one responsible for so much but is likely not fairly compensated for all he does).

Our team's smiling faces, and a bit about them, will appear on this feed soon. Jared is now second in command at BMK; at the helm is the Chief Happiness Officer, Edward (Eddie for short), the sassy Boston Terrier who barks at people, candy wrappers, and invisible things as they pass by.

So, after this little introduction, it is nice to meet you through this screen, and we hope one day you pop by and let us share the passion for design, function, and creativity this business was built on. In the meantime, stay tuned for a lot of tips, tricks, pictures, and useful information in the weeks and months to come.
