A garden or any living space we interact with can be beautiful for us, while also functioning as habitat for an entire community of life.

We’ve been spending a lot of time in our local nurseries over the last few weeks to source plants for our upcoming (and exciting) projects.

There’s a constant reminder of why it’s so worth it to source your plants and materials locally. Our local nursery owners and workers take so much pride in what they’re growing and selling, and have so much knowledge they’re willing to share.

On our website (link in bio) we’ve created a map in our Resource section that shows local nurseries, so you can source near to you.

Happy Planting :)

Four months already?!
We figured it was about time we introduced ourselves.
The founders of Goldenrod & Co.:

Emillie Rose has worked in environmental management, restoration, research, and sampling. She has a knack for bringing structure to the wild and is often the reason our big ideas turn into actual plans. She’s also a writer who brings both clarity and imagination to everything we do.

Justyna Werbel is an artist, designer, and biodiversity enthusiast who’s usually the one asking, “What if we tried this?” She loves dreaming up new ideas, sketching in the field, and finding creative ways to help people fall in love with the natural world.

And then there’s Olive, our Sea Beast. Professional glove thief, seagull chaser, expert nose licker, and enthusiastic supervisor of every field day (whether invited or not).

At Goldenrod & Co., we bring passion, playfulness, inclusivity, and innovation to the world of biodiversity restoration and we’re so grateful to be sharing the journey with all of you.

To everyone who’s followed along, hired us, shared our work, or simply cheered us on: thank you. Four months in, and we’re just getting rooted.

As our work continues to evolve, we’re beginning to explore collaborations with artists, designers, sculptors, ceramicists, furniture makers, illustrators, and makers. We see Goldenrod & Co. as an intersection between biodiversity, art, ecology, architecture, craft, and storytelling, where different disciplines come together to shape how we experience both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Our region is filled with incredibly talented creatives, and we’d love to begin building relationships with people whose work reflects a deep curiosity for nature. We’re especially interested in thoughtfully crafted work made by real people, whether that’s sculptural installations, botanical paintings, functional objects, natural fibre works, ceramics, sound pieces, furniture, or other creations inspired by the natural world.

Our hope is to create opportunities for collaboration that bring these works into gardens, homes, businesses, and public spaces, creating experiences that celebrate biodiversity in thoughtful and unexpected ways.

If this resonates with you, we’d love to hear from you.

Please send us a short introduction about yourself, along with a few images or links to your work, to [email protected].

July is one of our busiest months in the field, so while we may not be able to respond right away, we’ll take the time to review every submission and get back to you as soon as we can.

If someone comes to mind as you read this, we’d be grateful if you shared this post with them.

We look forward to discovering the incredible work being created throughout our communities.

Our Goldenrod Girls Seeds are locally and ethically harvested on the South Shore of Nova Scotia.
They began with a simple intention: to gather carefully, plant thoughtfully, and share what belongs to this place.
We collect from healthy, abundant populations and take only what the land can spare, leaving plenty behind for wildlife and natural regeneration.

Available now in our online shop (link in bio) or at a variety of local nurseries.

DM if you’d like to carry our seeds!

We're often asked: what does the '& Co.' of Goldenrod & Co. represent?

We believe that biodiverse and healthy ecosystems and environments don't just come from what we add. It's about what's been there before, what we invite, who or what we listen to.

The season has begun, and we’re over the moon to be meeting new clients and working alongside the land. Everything is popping off.

If you have a project in mind or would like a consultation to help clarify direction, we’d love to connect.

One of the most rewarding parts of this work is meeting incredible people who care deeply about the places they call home and the landscapes they share with others. It’s inspiring to work with so many people who approach the land with curiosity, intention, and respect.

Goldenrod & Co. is a labour of love built on hard, honest work, thoughtful design, and a deep respect for the places we inhabit. We feel incredibly grateful to be doing this work and to be building relationships with such wonderful clients and communities.

As a new business, we would be incredibly grateful if you shared Goldenrod & Co. with friends, family, or anyone who may be looking for help with their landscape. Word of mouth means the world to us, and every recommendation helps us continue doing the work we love.

We are very excited to hear from you!

Looking forward to connecting,

The Goldenrod Girls
