This week I've been helping our friends over at Roost solar with a massive installation. What you looking at in these photos is a 600 amp service, strictly for use with solar generation

The crew at Roost are building three massive arrays on the dairy barn totalling 342 600watt panels

We're very proud to be a part of this project. Thanks to Roost Solar, and the customer for having us involved

Thank goodness the smoke is all cleared up now

It was endesting yesterday to see so many people downtown running around with a new sense of vigor about them. It was similar to the people coming out after a big storm or a long winter. Such fun!

Hopefully its a while before the smoke comes back. You deserve a break, folks!

Good morning Vernon

Today we're going to play a game for all the electricians in the room, can you count how many deficiencies there are in this photo? Hahaha

It's really quite a clever installation but there's really nothing right about it. Is it going to hurt somebody not likely but there's lots of points that could fail

Anyway just wanted to share a laugh have a great day and have a great week

Did you know!!!

For only about $30 you can get an electrical testing kit at home depot (plug tester only is about $14)

These are great tools to keep in your home, but they also allow you to check on the health of your electrical system

Often when doing a residential evaluation I find plugs that have lost ground, or sometimes reverse wired devices. Although not immediately dangerous, over time these faults can become a hazard to people and electronics

It's the weekend! Go buy these tools after work, and test your home. If you need a hand, call us out!

Free air splices aren't ok on the best of days, but especially not outdoors, in a wet location

These cast steel boxes have threaded knockouts that come with nylon plugs, as well as rubberized-foam gaskets that prevent water from getting inside

Overkill under an eave? Maybe. But sometimes people wash houses, or clear away cobwebs with the hose, or kids be kids

Your marrette is not a wrench!

I attend "lost power" service calls all the time, and if it isn't a space heater, it's a loose splice. So many DIY projects try to cut a corner by stick three wires together and then using the wire nut as a wrench, but they don't go far enough

Did you know loose splices are a contributor to house fires? The energy vibrates, through a loose connection, and heating incurs

Do your future self a favor and twist the wires nice and snug with pliers. It's the right answer and will create a reliable connection for decades
