To our valued clients, friends, and community,
It is unfortunate that we even have to defend our integrity publicly.
At J.D. TRUE NORTH CONTRACTING LTD., our reputation has always been built on honesty, quality workmanship, respect, and trust. We take great pride in serving our community, supporting local businesses, and giving back whenever we can.
Over the years, we have donated countless hours of our time to complete projects for local businesses and community members without compensation, simply because it was the right thing to do. We believe in helping others and strengthening the community we call home.
Over the past year, our company has faced serious allegations and negative statements relating to a project involving a former client. It is our position that we completed the work we were contracted to perform and that payment for that work has remained outstanding for over a year. We are also aware that similar disputes have reportedly arisen involving other contractors who worked for the same property owners.
What many people don't realize is that when a small business isn't paid for work it has completed, the effects don't stop with that one invoice. Those unpaid bills create a ripple effect. We still have employees, suppliers, materials, fuel, insurance, equipment, and operating expenses that must be paid.
When clients refuse to pay, it puts unnecessary financial strain on our business and affects our ability to meet our own obligations. Small businesses are the backbone of our communities, and non-payment doesn't just hurt one company, it impacts everyone connected to it.
More recently, we encountered another unfortunate situation. A client provided a deposit for an upcoming project. Just two days later, our professional relationship quickly deteriorated. Although materials had already been purchased, we voluntarily offered to refund the deposit. As a gesture of good faith, we immediately returned a significant portion of those funds and advised the homeowners that once all purchased materials and related costs had been reconciled, the remaining balance would also be returned.
(THIS DOESN’T HAPPEN OVER NIGHT)
Within only two days, over the long weekend, we received text messages containing serious threats to damage our business and reputation. We believe many of the allegations made against our company are false and misleading. Despite the nature of those communications, we responded professionally, respectfully, and in good faith throughout the entire process.
The continued spread of one-sided information has had a significant impact on our business, our reputation, and the trust we have worked so hard to earn within our community. It has affected not only our company, but also our employees, our families, and the people who depend on our business.
(WE ARE NOT PERFECT BUT EITHER ARE YOU)
After careful consideration, we have decided to pursue the appropriate legal remedies to protect our reputation and address statements that we believe are false and defamatory. As these matters are now being addressed through the proper legal channels, we will have limited public comment going forward.
We respectfully ask everyone to remember that there are always two sides to every story. Before forming an opinion or sharing information, please take the time to seek the facts from all sides. Social media should never replace fairness, truth, or due process.
To our clients, supporters, and community members who have continued to stand beside us, thank you. Your trust means everything to us. We remain committed to providing honest, dependable workmanship, treating every client with respect, and serving our community with integrity.
Truth does not fear scrutiny. Integrity always speaks for itself.
