Most spiders you see indoors aren’t a threat—they’re quiet helpers.
Wolf spiders don’t build webs to trap prey. They actively hunt insects, helping reduce pests around your home. They’re shy and prefer to avoid people.
Jumping spiders may look intense with those big eyes, but they’re harmless. They use excellent vision to hunt tiny insects like flies and gnats—and often observe before they move.
Both play an important role in keeping insect populations under control—without chemicals, without harm.
Harming them doesn’t make your home safer.
It just removes a natural line of defense.
If you don’t want them inside, gently guide them back outdoors instead of harming them.
They’re not out to get you—
they’re helping you.

Luke & Rae: As the weather warms up in Ontario, experts are warning that more ticks are making their way north because Canada’s climate is becoming better for them to survive and spread.
Ontario is seeing more blacklegged ticks (you probably know then as deer ticks). Experts are also spotting more lone star ticks near the border. Lone star ticks don’t carry Lyme disease but their bite can trigger a serious red meat allergy called alpha-gal syndrome.

When you head outside this summer remember:
• Use bug spray with DEET or icaridin
• Wear long sleeves and tuck pants into socks in wooded areas
• Check yourself, your kids, and your pets for ticks after being outside
• Talk to your vet about prevention for your pet
• Put outdoor clothing in the dryer on high heat to kill any ticks that may be hiding
If you find a tick attached, remove it carefully with a tick remover or tweezers, clean the area, and contact your local public health unit or submit a photo to etick.ca for identification.

JEFF, KP & BACKSTAGE BEN: If you see a lanternfly, kill it then report it! 🚫

The spotted lanternfly looks harmless, but it's doing serious damage to our ecosystem - killing trees and crops while reproducing and spreading rapidly. Be on the look out for black-and-white spotted wings with a red back usually found on trees and plants. If you see one, take a pic, kill it, and then report it online to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency via their website.
