If you home was built before the 1990s, it may contain designated substances like asbestos, lead, or silica in materials such as insulation, paint, or flooring.

While these materials are often safe if undisturbed, renovations or damage can release harmful particles into the air.

Before starting any DIY project:
• Know the age of your home
• Avoid disturbing unknown materials
• Consult a professional if needed

Awareness is the first step in protecting your health.

Earth Day tree giveaway at the Carling Heights Optimist Centre between 8am-7pm on April 22, 2026. Many different types of trees to choose from.

Ever thought about planting a tree but just never got around to it? Earth Day is a great time to start.
We are celebrating by giving away 2,000+ free trees to Londoners. It is simple way to add more green to your yard and help grow our urban forest.

This year’s celebration is especially meaningful, as the City of London has been selected by the Canadian Institute of Forestry as the 2026 Forest Capital of Canada. The recognition comes during the city’s bicentennial year, adding even greater significance to the honour.
