Another fully upgraded side!

Years of direct sunlight will cause flexibility tar to become brittle. Eventually cracks will form and water will find its way in. This is bad news for your roof and everything underneath.

Most skylights are robust enough to out last your shingles several times over. If your having a leak around one it might have nothing to do with the skylight itself. Regardless, we think ice and water protection around skylights and over pipe flanges should be standard so with Isaac's Roofing it is.

Ever heard of a roof jack?

If your roof is exceptionally high up, steep or both this is a tool that makes both tear off and installation manageable.

Roof jacks (the metal hooks) are nailed to the roof, through the deck and into the supporting roof truss below. Once there is a sufficient row of jacks a plank is laid along them. This plank creates a surface to walk along and acts as a barrier to material or debris sliding off the roof.

Did you notice that the fastening area for the jack is a slot instead of a hole? This is so that the jack can be removed without pulling the nails used to fasten it. A few hits to the bottom of the installed jack with a hammer and the nails slide along the slot until the jack is released. once those nails are carefully hammered into the roof deck all signs of the roof jack are hidden. This allows the jacks to be used even while installing the final product.

What is underlayment??

Underlayment is a protective material goes under the shingles and acts like a second defence against leaks.

With wind storms hitting the city more and more recently underlayment is becoming a must have.

There are several types of underlayment that very in longevity and effectiveness. The leading standard and standard in Isaac’s roofing is ice and water protection underlayment at the bottom of the roof and synthetic underlayment the rest of the way.
That’s what every one of our roofs gets every time.

Wondering why shingles are blowing off your roof?

That white line on the shingle indicates where it is thickest. Nailing anywhere else will not ensure that the shingle is securely fastened to the roof deck.

Nailing through the face of a shingle is not a solution to any roof problem! Get a fix that will last!

Caulking the nail heads will keep your roof water tight, but only for a couple of years. Shingles are designed to withstand much more weathering than caulking, so the caulking will always fail first.

Make sure you know what your roofer is doing on your roof! Isaac’s roofing always supplies pictures of problem areas and of our solution to those problems.
