Ian Moxon Architect Inc. is pleased to have collaborated with Sanayut Consulting Professional Engineers Corporation to provide the design and construction of a new single-storey cultural centre, a two-storey office/hotel facility, and a stand-alone outdoor workshop within the community of Tuktoyaktuk, NWT.

Designed after a traditional sod house, the cultural centre has a Great Hall to showcase various art forms, a museum space to display artifacts and host travelling exhibits. The office & hotel offers a large boardroom and various admin support rooms on the main floor to support staff, community organizations and business groups.

The second-floor hotel layout offers 15 hotel units and two dedicated apartment spaces, attracting artists and servicing the local tourism requirements. The Gift Shop acts as a common gathering place and an artist workshop to support the Great Hall activities.

Our team recently traded the fast tempo of designs & drawings for the slow pace of a weekend at Fairmont Hot Springs/Mountainside Villas.

We enjoyed a day of boating on the lake, rafting down the whitewater, and strolling on the golf course.

But the best part was spending time together outside the office and building on the things that make us click as a team; accidentally discovering the best Italian restaurant in the Kootenays was a close second – Thank you, Fiorenza’s Italian Restaurant. https://fiorenzarestaurant.my.canva.site/

Ian Moxon Architect is pleased to collaborate with Bradley Shuya Architect Inc. (Prime Consultant) to provide technical drawing support for a new Childcare facility at Vanier Secondary School in Courtenay, BC.

The facility has space for 130 children ranging in age from infants to after-school care. There are 5 childcare Studio rooms with adjacent secure outdoor play areas, a kitchen, an office, a staff room, and various service rooms.

To complete the building, there is an independent Studio designated for young parents and community use.

IMA Staff enjoyed a ‘relaxing’ Friday night in the suited range @ the Evergreen Golf Centre.
Lots of fun, great atmosphere, and some surprisingly good swings!
Add food and drinks to the mix - Fun was had by all! A perfect way to kick off the weekend.

Another new civic landmark for emergency readiness in Stand Off, Alberta. Ian Moxon Architect Inc. is privileged to be part of the Blood Tribe 148 Emergency Services Building in Standoff, AB. A purpose-driven facility designed to support fire, EMS, operational readiness, training, wellness, and community protection. Conceived as both a high-performance emergency services facility and a visible symbol of service, the architecture brings together strength, clarity, and identity. Its bold massing, red apparatus frontage, transparent civic face, and durable material expression create a striking presence rooted in function and responsibility. Now in the tendering phase and anticipated to move into construction this year, the project reflects the strength of collaboration between Blood Tribe 148, Talbera International Technologies Ltd., the consultant team, and IMA. For our studio, this project represents the kind of work we value most: architecture that is purposeful, technically coordinated, and grounded in community service — delivered with care from design vision through construction documentation and project delivery.
