Let’s be honest…sometimes DIY plumbing sounds like a great idea, until you’re knee-deep in water wondering where it all went wrong.

We’ve all been there, but maybe it’s time to admit that some things are better left to the pros.

Here are 5 reasons you need to stop DIYing and call a plumber instead:

Do I really need to winterize my plumbing?

Short answer: Yes, you do.

Even on Vancouver Island, where freezing temperatures aren’t the norm, it can still get cold enough to cause problems if your plumbing isn’t prepped for winter.

If your home is older, there’s a good chance you don’t have frost-free hose bibs. That means you’ll need to shut them down properly to avoid freezing. And if your water lines don’t have enough insulation, they’re at risk too.

And trust us, frozen pipes are not something you want to deal with…😅

Winterizing your plumbing is one of those small tasks that can save you a big headache later. A little prep now ensures your pipes make it through winter without any unexpected (and expensive) surprises.
