A finished bathroom only shows you the end result. This project gives you a look at everything that happens before you get there.

From opening up the existing space and getting things down to the studs, to rebuilding, installing and working through the finishing details, there are a lot of stages between demo day and done.

And that's where quality workmanship really matters.

We love being able to show more than just the final photo because a great renovation isn't only about how it looks when we're finished—it's about the work that went into getting there.

Some things are bigger than the build.

Teaching my son how to use tools, work with his hands, and take pride in what he creates is one of those things.

He might not remember every cut we made or every project we worked on together, but I hope he remembers the time spent beside me, learning, asking questions, making mistakes and figuring things out.

I’ve spent years building homes and helping other people bring their ideas to life.

But getting the chance to pass some of what I’ve learned down to him?

That might be one of the most meaningful things I’ll ever build.

September is here, and while we’re not quite ready to talk about winter yet, now is a good time to make sure your home is ready for the colder months ahead.

A few things worth checking before the weather changes:

• Take a look around windows and doors for drafts or damaged seals
• Check exterior caulking for cracks or gaps
• Make sure bathroom and kitchen ventilation is working properly
• Pay attention to any areas where you’ve noticed moisture or condensation
• If you’re hoping to complete an indoor renovation this fall or winter, start planning sooner rather than later

And if there’s a part of your home that’s been bothering you all summer, September might be the perfect time to finally start talking about it.

Taking down a wall can create a brighter, more open space, improve the flow of your home, and make it easier to spend time with family or entertain guests.

The work doesn’t stop when the tools get put away.

The build itself is what you see: the framing, the finishes, the transformation.

But behind every project, there’s a whole other side of the job: planning, scheduling, coordinating trades, answering calls and emails, ordering materials, solving problems, keeping clients updated… and making sure nothing gets missed.

A lot of that has been learned through experience.

And if you ask Tyler, one of the things he’s still learning is how to actually shut it all off at the end of the day.

When you care about your work and the people trusting you with their homes, it can be pretty hard to leave the job at the job.
