Carel Meyburg is the Plant Health Care Specialist and Owner of LittleSpoon, and he is the go-to expert for all things plants. Driven by an unwavering passion, Carel's journey began in the fine dining industry as a chef, where he first discovered his fascination with edible and medicinal plants, as well as natural regenerative gardening. This newfound interest led him to transition from the kitchen to the landscape, where he spent nearly a decade honing his skills across various companies.
Throughout his career, Carel developed a deep commitment to delivering exceptional quality work, prioritizing client satisfaction, and fostering employee well-being. He believes in the importance of open communication, trust, honesty, integrity, and building long-term relationships with clients and colleagues alike. Recognizing that these values were often lacking in the industry, Carel was inspired to create LittleSpoon—a landscaping company dedicated to enhancing outdoor spaces through genuine care and expertise.

Shawn Laurin is the Lead Landscaper and Hardscape Specialist at LittleSpoon. While he may have a lean appearance, don’t let that fool you—this dedicated professional can outwork anyone on the job site. With over five years of landscaping experience, Shawn began his career in Ontario, focusing primarily on hardscape elements and pool installations.
After relocating to Surrey, he crossed paths with Carel, and the two quickly developed a strong friendship while working at a landscaping company. From the very beginning, their teamwork and exceptional work ethic distinguished them in the industry. As they refined their skills together, they discovered a shared vision for transforming outdoor spaces and a mutual desire to create a lasting impact. Motivated by their passion for enhancing the natural beauty of their surroundings, Shawn and Carel decided it was time to branch out and establish LittleSpoon.
With Shawn's expertise in hardscaping and commitment to quality craftsmanship, clients can trust that their projects will be executed with precision and care. Robbie Gass is our extraordinary soil expert, specializing in soil science with a focus on microbiology. Originally from Scotland, Robbie spent 40 years in South Africa, where he successfully owned and operated a farm, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture and soil health.
A few years ago, he met Carel, and their friendship blossomed into a dynamic partnership dedicated to nurturing nature. Together, they combine their expertise to enhance the health of your soil, ensuring vibrant, thriving landscapes. With Robbie's deep understanding of soil ecosystems and commitment to sustainability, he is a vital asset to our team, helping us create flourishing outdoor environments that reflect the beauty of nature.
