We’ll be at the CLRA Alberta Conference.

This event brings together people who are directly involved in land remediation and reclamation across the province, which makes it a great place for practical, on-the-ground conversations about what’s actually working on projects.

We’ll also be carrying our Helping Handshakes initiative into CLRA. For every handshake during the conference, Milestone will donate $1 to Project Forest, supporting reforestation and habitat restoration projects across Canada.
If you’re attending, come say hello. We’re always open to comparing notes, talking through challenges, and connecting with others doing the work.

Stop by, shake a hand, and help us give back.

Today is Yukon Heritage Day.

A day to honour the people, histories, and knowledge that shape the Yukon, and to recognize the importance of respecting the land and the generations who have lived and worked in relationship with it.

Opening our Whitehorse office was an important step for Milestone. It reflects a commitment to being present where the work happens, building long-term relationships, and supporting projects in the North with teams who understand the region, its challenges, and its communities.

Having a permanent presence in Whitehorse allows us to better support northern projects, work alongside local partners, and continue delivering environmental remediation and water management work in some of Canada’s most demanding environments.

On Yukon Heritage Day, we’re proud to be growing our presence in the territory and to be part of Yukon’s future.

Environmental work rarely happens in controlled settings.

Weather can dictate when work starts and stops, whether it’s frozen ground delaying excavation, rainfall turning roads unusable, or snowmelt limiting access altogether. These conditions require flexible planning, along with tools like rig mats and stormwater systems to manage site stability and protect nearby waterways.

Wildlife adds another layer of responsibility. In open work environments shared with species like bears, caribou, and moose, dedicated monitors track movement and help prevent risks to animals or the project.

These are all challenges of environmental remediation, which Milestone’s CEO Eric Pringle explores in “More Than Cleanup: What it Takes to Remediate Canada’s Forgotten Mines,” his article in the Canadian Mining Magazine.

Come say hi to some of Milestone’s best! We’ll be at PDAC 2026 in Toronto.
PDAC is always a good opportunity to connect with people across the mining and environmental space and have honest conversations about the work, what’s working, and what’s challenging on projects right now.

As part of Milestone Environmental Contracting’s Helping Handshakes initiative, we’ll be donating $1 to Forest for every handshake at PDAC. All funds support reforestation and habitat restoration projects across Canada.

If you’re attending, let’s connect. We’ll be there talking about remediation, water management, and what it actually takes to deliver complex work in remote and regulated environments across Canada.

If you see us around, stop by, shake a hand, and say hello.

Project Spotlight: Lorado Former Uranium Mill Remediation

Near Uranium City in northern Saskatchewan, Milestone and PBN Nuna Contracting, our joint venture partner, completed a complex remediation project at the former Lorado uranium mill site.

The remote location and large volume of tailings limited access to ice roads, barges, and fixed-wing aircraft, requiring detailed planning and coordination.

To manage these challenges, the team developed a transportation plan that used a staging area in Stony Rapids and coordinated the delivery of equipment and materials via multiple modes of transport. We worked closely with local Athabasca Basin businesses and personnel, and ensured all team members completed thorough site orientation and radiation safety training. The project included remediation of an 18-hectare tailings area and treatment of nearby contaminated sites, including lake water.

A new water treatment project is underway at the Wolverine Mine in the Yukon.

Milestone has been engaged by the Yukon Government to deliver a temporary water treatment system that will treat and safely discharge up to 310,000 cubic metres of water across two field seasons.

This work supports the Yukon Government’s ongoing efforts to responsibly manage legacy mine sites, and Milestone is proud to be part of the solution.
