A kitchen within a kitchen...

Behind a discreet door in the kitchen lies a dedicated wok kitchen — a clever addition that brings both beauty and functionality to everyday living.

Designed to keep the main kitchen feeling calm, cohesive, and ready for entertaining, this tucked-away space offers a dedicated area for cooking and preparing meals, while keeping the heart of the home welcoming for family and guests.

The heart of a home is where everyone gathers, stories are shared, laughter fills the room, and holiday traditions become cherished memories ❤️

At Japavarian Haus, every detail of the kitchen has been thoughtfully considered to make those moments even more meaningful. From the carefully selected finishes to the functional design that brings family and friends together, this is a space created for everything from festive holiday feasts to slow Sunday mornings around the table.

And because family comes in all shapes and sizes, even the four-legged members haven’t been forgotten! 🐾

And now… we arrive at the dining room!

Above the table Bocci lights create a beautiful focal point, while the stunning table from Once A Tree Furniture | Vancouver Furniture Store brings warmth and character to the space.

And this is where you can really appreciate the beautiful flooring throughout the home, expertly done by Nufloors Maple Ridge. The natural tones and textures create such a warm foundation for the entire space, allowing all the other details to shine.

But the most amazing part of this dining room? Being able to open up the sliding doors and being completely connected to the unique backyard. We honestly can’t imagine a better place to sit on a warm summer evening or listening to the rain while staying cozy inside.

Our furry friend agrees 😉

🧡 Every Child Matters.

Today, we take a moment to remember the children who never made it home, honour residential school Survivors and recognize the lasting impact on Indigenous families and communities.

May today be a reminder that reconciliation is not just about remembering — it’s about continuing to learn, having meaningful conversations and helping build a future rooted in respect, understanding and kindness.

🔍 Let’s zoom in on the details…

Because sometimes, the smaller details make a space feel truly special.

The custom walnut slat wall creates a beautiful architectural separation between the living room and staircase. Warm, textured and thoughtfully placed, it adds dimension while keeping the spaces feeling connected.

Over by the living room window, you’ll find custom walnut shelving, carrying that same rich warmth across the room and creating the perfect place to display meaningful pieces.

And tying it all together? The beautiful artwork provided by Once A Tree, adding another layer of personality, colour and character to the space.

We love how the woodwork and artwork complement one another without competing — proving once again that great design isn’t just about one standout feature!

Come on in!

Our first glimpse inside takes us through the beautifully designed mud room, where everyday function meets thoughtful design. But there’s no lingering here — because just beyond it, you’re welcomed straight into the the living room.

And what a welcome it is.

Throughout the main level, engineered white oak flooring creates a warm, natural foundation that carries effortlessly from one space to the next.

Then comes one of the details that really catches your eye: a beautiful walnut slat wall that subtly separates the living space from the staircase while adding warmth, texture and architectural interest.

It’s a perfect example of what we love about Japavarian Haus — nothing feels overdone, yet every detail has a purpose.

A little behind-the-scenes magic! ✨

This space is transforming into a stunning Tsuboniwa — a future rock garden complete with a calming water feature at the Japavarian Haus. Designed to bring a sense of peace, balance, and natural beauty right into the heart of the home.

Surrounding it is a traditional Japanese deck crafted from beautiful yellow Belau wood. Built with precision and care, this piece came together over 3 days with a dedicated crew to bring it to life.

The foundation is set… and we can’t wait to show you what’s next 👀

🌍 Happy Earth Day! 🌍

Today is a great reminder that the homes we build can make a real difference — for both our clients and the planet. This project is a net zero home, designed to produce as much energy as it consumes while creating a healthier, more efficient living space. 🌱

It’s not just about reducing environmental impact — it’s about building smarter, more sustainable homes for today and for future generations.

Curious about going net zero? We’d love to chat about how it all works!
