Urban Roots Build Co.

Pender Island isn't a place you renovate for. It's a place you renovate with.

The salt air, the tide tables, the light through the arbutus trees. Every build here has to work with the island, not against it.

That's part of why trust matters so much in this business. You're inviting a crew into your daily life for months, sometimes longer — so we take clear communication and honest timelines seriously.

Most of our work comes from referrals — past clients, realtors, neighbours who saw a project come together and wanted the same for their own. We are grateful to earn your trust, one project at a time.

Food Banks Canada's most recent HungerCount Report found that in 2025, food banks across Canada recorded nearly 2.2 million visits in a single month - double what it was just six years ago.

Needless to say, Canada's food banks are under more pressure than ever right now, with demand growing by the day. The Pender Island Food Bank is no exception.

With Grant embedded in the Pender community almost full-time, we see firsthand how much the Pender Island Food Bank means to the people who live here year-round. Food banks are one of those things that some of us are fortunate to be able to overlook in our day-to-day lives - until you realize just how many families and individuals depend on them, and how much it takes to keep them running.

We recently made a donation to the Pender Island Food Bank, and if it's a cause that resonates with you, we'd encourage you to do the same. Every little bit goes a long way. You can donate via e-transfer to [email protected] 🖤

Let’s give a warm welcome to our newest member, Urban Roots Build Co., and co-founders Grant Gibson and Mark Nowotny.

Urban Roots brings over 30 years of experience building and renovating homes, and was founded on a no pressure, client-first philosophy. They bring a design-build approach that supports projects from concept through completion.

With Grant based here on Pender, their team takes a thoughtful and professional approach to their work. That is something that’s always valued in our community.

They’ve also stepped in as a Champion member, helping support the work of the Chamber and the broader business community at our highest level.

This kind of support makes a real difference.

The finishing touches are underway on this Pender Island build, and we couldn't be prouder of how it's come together.

With our Co-Founder Grant based on the island pretty much full-time at this point, every project here feels less like a job and more like an addition to the community. This full custom home build project epitomizes that feeling. Seeing it look like this now after it being an empty lot mere months ago brings a special feeling that never gets old.

As we wrap this one up, our books are opening for new project intake on Pender. If you've been thinking about a custom build or renovation, now's a great time to reach out. Give Grant a call at 778-240-5540 or shoot him an email at [email protected]. We're always happy to chat, no strings attached.

There's nothing quite like wrapping up a project on Pender Island.

This custom home on Pender is one we're especially proud of - we had the pleasure of taking this from planning on an empty lot all the way to a beautiful finished product.

With Grant based on the island practically full-time, we're lucky enough to be embedded in the Pender community in a way that most builders aren't. Every project here feels personal.

If you've been thinking about a custom build or renovation on Pender, give Grant a call at 778-240-5540 or shoot him an email at [email protected]. We're always happy to chat, no strings attached.
