TREEWORKS - Professional Tree Care had the pleasure of being the first stages of this project. Clearing the land in preparation for the build ❤️

Construction has officially begun on the Municipality’s new Fire Station and Public Works Depot in Buckhorn! 👷🏗️

The new building will replace the current Fire Station 1 and Buckhorn Public Works Depot located at 1718 Lakehurst Road.

The facility will feature three vehicle bays for the fire department, five bays for the public works department, as well as a kitchen, bathrooms, training room and offices for staff. In addition, there will be a standby generator to ensure Municipal vehicles can continue to get fuel during power outages.

The decision to build a new facility came out of the findings in the Municipality’s 2019 Facilities Master Plan. Due to being built circa 1970s, the current facility is not built to “post-disaster standards”, which is now a requirement for structures storing fire vehicles and equipment.

This upgrade will ensure that staff can continue to meet the Level of Service requirements for fire and emergency services as well as road maintenance during future growth in the area.

The completion of this project will support one of Council’s main goals as laid out in the Community Strategic Plan, “To have infrastructure in place in order to best support future growth of the Municipality.”

Construction is scheduled to be complete by late 2026.
