What was once an old, weathered, and deteriorating staircase has been completely transformed into a beautiful new cedar staircase built with safety, strength, and longevity in mind.

The original stairs had reached the point where repairs would have been a temporary solution rather than a lasting one. Years of exposure to the elements had taken their toll, with visible wear and rot affecting multiple areas of the structure. When deterioration begins extending beyond a few surface boards and into important structural components, replacing only certain sections can leave underlying issues unresolved.

Rather than patching worn materials onto an aging staircase, the solid choice was a complete rebuild from the ground up.
The old structure was removed and replaced with a new cedar staircase featuring a strong support system, solid stair treads, clean-lined railings, and a spacious upper landing. The warm natural cedar brings character and craftsmanship to the home while creating a safer, sturdier, and more functional entrance designed for years of everyday use.

It's been a while since we've posted, which isn't ideal, but we've been busy helping our clients bring their projects to life.

This was a fun one for some fantastic clients.
They wanted a fully custom-built shed. No pre-packaged kit here. Built from the ground up with new wiring, windows, roofing, trim, siding, custom doors, hardware, and all the finishing details that made it exactly what they were looking for.

The project also included a new cedar slat fence incorporating their existing gate, a brand new cedar deck, new skirting around their trailer, a custom propane tank cover, and a solid set of cedar steps.

A shout-out to Louie for the great work on the pavers. They were the finishing touch that really pulled everything together.

Big things have come to life at Back 40 Builds.

This backyard has been completely transformed into a warm, functional outdoor living space that feels just as inviting as the home itself. The custom covered gazebo anchors the space, with matching pergolas stretching out on either side to create a seamless, balanced design.

From the ground up, every detail was built with intention. River rock borders and proper drainage keep things clean and low-maintenance, while adding that natural, grounded feel that ties everything together.
And then there’s the craftsmanship.

Kyle has hand-built the outdoor furniture himself, including these solid, beautifully finished chairs that bring both comfort and character to the space. They’re not just something to sit on, they’re part of the story of the build.

The layout flows effortlessly, creating a space that’s ready for everything from quiet mornings to full-on summer evenings with friends and family.

What started as a vision is now just about complete and it speaks for itself.

Big things are coming together at Back 40 Builds

Kyle is in the process of creating a stunning backyard oasis, starting with a custom covered gazebo, complete with pergolas on either side. This space is being thoughtfully designed to bring comfort, style, and function together in one beautiful outdoor living area.
The project will feature river rock borders, proper drainage with rock pads, and handcrafted outdoor furniture built by Kyle himself. One side will include a custom outdoor kitchen, while the other will be set up for a relaxing hot tub space perfect for unwinding at the end of the day.
The photos you’re seeing are from the build in progress stay tuned to see this space come to life as we bring the full vision together.
