Big things have come to life at Back 40 Builds.

This backyard has been completely transformed into a warm, functional outdoor living space that feels just as inviting as the home itself. The custom covered gazebo anchors the space, with matching pergolas stretching out on either side to create a seamless, balanced design.

From the ground up, every detail was built with intention. River rock borders and proper drainage keep things clean and low-maintenance, while adding that natural, grounded feel that ties everything together.
And then there’s the craftsmanship.

Kyle has hand-built the outdoor furniture himself, including these solid, beautifully finished chairs that bring both comfort and character to the space. They’re not just something to sit on, they’re part of the story of the build.

The layout flows effortlessly, creating a space that’s ready for everything from quiet mornings to full-on summer evenings with friends and family.

What started as a vision is now just about complete and it speaks for itself.

Big things are coming together at Back 40 Builds

Kyle is in the process of creating a stunning backyard oasis, starting with a custom covered gazebo, complete with pergolas on either side. This space is being thoughtfully designed to bring comfort, style, and function together in one beautiful outdoor living area.
The project will feature river rock borders, proper drainage with rock pads, and handcrafted outdoor furniture built by Kyle himself. One side will include a custom outdoor kitchen, while the other will be set up for a relaxing hot tub space perfect for unwinding at the end of the day.
The photos you’re seeing are from the build in progress stay tuned to see this space come to life as we bring the full vision together.

Still post pounding over in Thetis 💪

Working on this large 40-acre fence line and watching it stretch out straight as an arrow across the field is a pretty satisfying sight. There’s something about a clean, tight line of posts marching across the land that just feels right.

The weather can’t quite decide if it’s winter or spring over here… blue skies, soft ground, a little mud on the boots. We’ll take it. Good day to build.

Another solid build happening 💪🌱

This greenhouse started from the ground up — literally. We leveled the ground, set the cinder block foundation, and put the frame together so everything is square, sturdy, and built to last.

Next up is installing the polycarbonate panels and finishing the grading around the base so it looks good and works the way it should. No shortcuts, no “good enough.” Just solid prep, strong structure, and attention to the details that actually matter over time.

Admittedly, I’m terrible at the whole “social media” thing. I’m more of a get the job done right, on time, affordable, then on to the next project type, not a great photographer or a blogger type carpenter.
But I did manage to grab a couple photos of this fence and the gate of all gates when it was finished.

High-traffic area, so the client wanted something solid, beautiful, safe, and functional and Back 40 Builds delivered.
There’s just something about working with cedar… it never disappoints. This tied in perfectly with the existing fence, and if the client’s happy, I’m happy.
