If you’re dealing with symptoms or any kind of medical issue, you are allowed to ask questions.

You are allowed to do your own research. (Learn how to do good research, consider the source).

You don’t have to just nod and accept whatever they tell you.

I spent years doing exactly that, until I realized I had every right to ask “Why?” and look deeper.

Your body is yours.

Your health is yours.

Don’t be afraid to question things. ♥️

If someone tells you that something is incurable, why would you look to them to cure it?

That question changed my whole healing journey.

It stopped me from handing my power over to a system that had already given up on me.

It pushed me to look for the root cause.

It pushed me to believe my body could heal. ♥️

And it became the foundation of my entire healing journey, successfully healing from MS.

If you have pain… don’t just reach for a Tylenol or ibuprofen. Ask why.

Why do I have this headache?

Did I sleep wrong?

Have I been hunched over my computer for hours?

Am I tense? Dehydrated? Low on magnesium?

There’s always a root cause.

The key isn’t masking the symptom.

It’s getting curious and asking why.

That’s where real healing begins.

This is healing in progress.

I triggered a lot of people with my last post.

And at first, I felt bad about it.

But then I remembered something important.

When something triggers you, when you feel resistance, anger, or the urge to fight back, that’s not the problem.

That’s the sign where the healing needs to happen.

I’m going to wish everyone well and hope the discomfort stirs something deep enough that they start looking at their own root cause.

That’s the whole message of my book, Healing Outside the System.

If this triggers something in you, good.
Sit with it. That’s where the gold is.

My book makes a lot of people feel uncomfortable. But it also helps people heal.

And that’s exactly the point.

You'll find information that challenges everything you've learned about healing.

Things you've taken as gospel truth in the conventional medical system.

The moments you feel resistance, the parts that make you irritated, angry, or want to close the book… those are the exact places where your deepest healing is waiting.

If something triggers you, that’s your signal. That’s where the work needs to happen.

That’s why I wrote Healing Outside the System. Not to make you feel good, but to help you actually heal.

If you’re ready to stop avoiding the uncomfortable and start facing what needs healing…

Millions of people are now taking Pepcid + Allegra every single day just to function.

Two over-the-counter drugs. Every. Single. Day.

This isn’t a life hack.

This is exactly what’s wrong with our medical system.
We’re treating symptoms instead of asking why they’re happening in the first place.

We’re masking histamine issues, inflammation, and chronic symptoms with more pharmaceuticals instead of looking for the root cause.

I did it for years too, until I realized the system wasn’t built to heal me.

So I stepped outside of it.

I went after the root cause.

I healed my mind, body, and spirit from MS.

Sending vibes to all the folks to find their own root cause healing. 🙏❤️

If you have symptoms… the most powerful question you can ask is: “Why?” Your body is speaking to you.

For so long I ignored the signals, hoping the conventional medical system would just “fix” me. Until I realized I needed to look deeper — for the root cause.

I had to heal my mind, my body, and my spirit.

That shift changed everything.

You are so much more powerful than you’ve been led to believe. Your body knows the way — it’s just waiting for you to listen.

I wrote Healing Outside the System to share the exact path I took, and I created a free guide to help you take those first empowered steps too.

If this resonates with you, drop a ❤️ or tell me in the comments: What’s one symptom your body has been trying to get your attention about lately?

Over the years, many of you have followed along for babywearing, linen slings, and the early days of True North.

What many people didn’t know is that behind the scenes, I was also navigating a very personal health journey.

In 2011, I received a severe MS diagnosis and was told I would likely be in a wheelchair by 2016.

For a long time, I kept that completely private.

I was building a business, raising a family, and trying to move forward with life. Sharing something like that felt scary and vulnerable, so I stayed quiet about it.

But the path I chose led somewhere I never expected.

I healed.

And that journey ended up shaping so much of who I became and what True North would eventually grow into.

Because of what I was carrying privately, I also never fully felt authentic when sharing online. I was leaving out such a huge part of my story.

Now I’m finally sharing the full story.

I’ve released my book:

Healing Outside the System: When I Stopped Listening to Conventional Medicine and Started Listening to Myself.

It’s part memoir and part guidebook for people who sense there may be more to illness and healing than what they’ve been told, and who want to explore their options without feeling pressured, dismissed, or confined to a single path.

Blending memoir with lived experience, traditional wisdom, and scientific research, the book explores many of the modalities that shaped my healing journey. For each one, I explain what it is, what I did, why it may work, and what readers can thoughtfully consider for themselves.

As I write in the book:

Wisdom doesn’t come from defending a stance.
It comes from asking better questions.

For a long time I thought this story was something I needed to hide.

Now I understand that it’s one of my greatest strengths.

If you're curious about the full story, the link to the book is in my bio. ❤️

After the shock of the diagnosis, I was left with a strange clarity.

A knowing that I would find a way to heal.

But life leading up to that moment had been relentless.

Symptoms of something wrong had been building.

I was heading into my fourth year of university.

Student loans were piling up.

Credit cards were maxed out.

And I was in a summer job practicum at the local municipality, where I faced intense workplace bullying.

That season had already pushed me to my limits, and the diagnosis became the breaking point.

I never went back to that practicum after the day I received the diagnosis. It just wasn’t worth it.

Even so, beneath all of the fear and exhaustion, the spark I talked about in Part I stayed with me.
An inner voice repeating: This is not going to be my story.

I clung to that voice, because it gave me hope.

And I began searching obsessively for the next step forward. I spent endless hours researching, sometimes in 8+ hour stints, until my partner would slowly close my laptop and coax me outside to get some nature.

I was desperate to find stories of people who had healed from MS or other “incurable” diseases.

If I knew other folks could do it, even if rare, I knew I could do it, too.

To my relief, I found a handful.

(Thank you, Dr. Terry Wahls. Thank you, Kris Carr.)

And that was enough to give me hope.

Next week in Part III, I’ll share the very first change I made, the one that gave me back a sense of control and became the foundation of my healing journey.

Thanks for reading. If you’ve ever been diagnosed with something while trying to hold the rest of your life together, you’ll understand how heavy this season felt.

I hope my story helps you, or someone you love, know that healing is possible. ♥️

Deep breath in… I’ve been holding onto this part of my story for a long time, and it’s finally time to tell it.

When we had to retire our beloved slings, my heart broke a little. I know so many of you have beautiful memories wrapped up (literally) in those pieces, and so do I. The linen is still here (and yes… the slings could return one day).

But behind the scenes, while True North Slings rested, something was shifting in me, and in the work I felt called to do.

In 2011, I was diagnosed with aggressive, incurable multiple sclerosis.

I was told I’d be in a wheelchair by 2016, and to prepare for continual decline, that my life as I knew it was over.

It was terrifying, and I didn’t want anyone to know. I buried myself in my work and quietly poured every ounce of myself into healing, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, far outside the conventional medical system.

And it worked.

Nearly 15 years later: no signs, no symptoms, no progression.

For years, people have asked me to share my story so others might find hope in a system that often fails us. I wasn’t ready… until now.

So True North Slings has evolved into True North Wellness Co, still rooted in care, compassion, and connection, but now with a focus on helping people heal themselves.

✨ This fall, I’m releasing Healing Outside the System, a deep dive into my journey of what I did, how I did it (the tests, therapies, supplements , unconventional modalities) and how others can walk a similar path.

✨ I’ve also created What Do I Do Now?, a short guide for anyone at a health turning point.

✨ And First Steps to Healing, a free resource with seven simple ways to begin your wellness journey.

Whether you came here for slings, linen, home goods, or simply connection, thank you for being here. I’m so glad our paths have crossed.

If my story resonates with you, whether you’re facing a diagnosis, supporting a loved one, or searching for a new path, we'd be honoured if you'd check out what we're offering. ♥️

Thanks for being here with me.

With gratitude,

Alison

We’ll be shutting off U.S. shipping sometime later today.

Get in there! 😘

We love you.
