Another exciting milestone as the Northern Lights College Cultural Gathering Centre takes shape in Dawson Creek, BC!
This architecturally distinctive facility features an impressive circular roof structure, exposed timber framing, and a central gathering space designed to celebrate Indigenous culture, traditions, and community connections.
Our Four Point Electric Inc. team has been hard at work delivering the electrical infrastructure, power distribution, and lighting systems that will help bring this remarkable facility to life.
From underground electrical installations to carefully coordinated electrical distribution throughout the exposed timber structure, this project demonstrates the craftsmanship, planning, and attention to detail required for unique architectural construction.
🏛️ FUN FACT!
The Gathering Centre's sweeping circular roofline bears an interesting resemblance to the Pantheon in Rome, constructed nearly 1,900 years ago. Both structures bring people together beneath an extraordinary roof, although the Gathering Centre's architectural design draws inspiration from Indigenous cultural traditions.

Four Point Electric Inc. (FPEI) has fully mobilized to Penticton Regional Airport for the Runway 16 Omni-Directional Approach Lighting System (ODALS) Replacement Project, awarded through Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC).

Another Milestone — Alberta Master Electrician

After more than 35 years in the electrical trade, I’m pleased to have added another credential to the journey: my Alberta Master Electrician Certificate of Competency.

I’ve always believed that experience is valuable, but experience should never become an excuse to stop learning.

From starting in the field as an apprentice, earning my Red Seal, progressing through supervision, estimating and project management, becoming an FSR-A in British Columbia, and ultimately building Four Point Electric Inc., the electrical trade has continually challenged me to learn, adapt and improve.
Now I can add Alberta Master Electrician to that list.
The Alberta certification carries an important responsibility. Master Electricians are eligible to obtain electrical permits in the province, and with that authority comes accountability for the electrical work performed under those permits.
At 55, I think there is something worthwhile in continuing to sit for examinations, study new Code editions, question what you think you already know, and put your knowledge to the test.

You are never too experienced to learn something new.
For Four Point Electric, this also strengthens our ability to support projects across British Columbia, Alberta and Yukon as we mark our 10th year in business.

🎉 Celebrating 5 Years with FPEI — Trevor Bellavance 🎉
Four Point Electric Inc. is proud to recognize Trevor Bellavance on his 5-year anniversary with FPEI — a milestone that represents only part of a professional relationship spanning almost 18 years working alongside FPEI President Derek Andrews.
Trevor’s journey began in 2008 as a second-year electrical apprentice. He quickly demonstrated the technical ability, leadership, and work ethic that would shape his career, advancing to B Foreman on the VPD Forensic Storage Facility, a LEED® Platinum project in Vancouver.
Since joining FPEI, Trevor has continued to take on increasingly challenging responsibilities. As an A Foreman, he supervised what remains one of FPEI’s most technically complex projects to date — the UHN Hospital medium-voltage and unit-substation upgrade.
Today, Trevor brings that extensive field experience into a broader leadership role, heading up Project Coordination and FPEI’s BC CSA COR® Safety Administration.
Perhaps most importantly, Trevor has moved from being the young apprentice learning the trade to becoming a mentor to the next generation of craftspeople — guiding our apprentices and younger electricians with knowledge earned through years of hands-on experience.
That progression — Apprentice → Foreman → A Foreman → Project & Safety Leadership → Mentor — represents what a career in the skilled trades can become.
Congratulations, Trevor, on five years with Four Point Electric and nearly 18 years of working together. Thank you for your loyalty, leadership, commitment to safety, and the knowledge you continue to pass on to the next generation.

🎉 Celebrating 5 Years with FPEI — Simon Dubrule 🎉
Four Point Electric Inc. is proud to recognize Simon Dubrule on his 5-year anniversary with FPEI.

Simon originally joined Four Point Electric as a General Foreman, bringing strong field experience and leadership to our projects. Over the past five years, he has continued to expand his knowledge and responsibilities, progressing in his career to become a Project Manager and Estimator with FPEI.

Along the way, Simon has further strengthened his technical qualifications, becoming CFAA certified and obtaining Airside Navigation certification, adding specialized knowledge and capability to both Simon's career and our organization.
His progression from field leadership into project management and estimating represents something we strongly value at FPEI — providing experienced tradespeople with opportunities to continue learning, take on greater responsibility, and advance within the electrical industry.

✈️ Project Award – Penticton Regional Airport (YYF)

Four Point Electric Inc. is pleased to announce the award of the Penticton Airport Omni-Directional Approach Lighting System (ODALS) 16 Replacement project at Penticton Regional Airport (YYF).

This project, administered by Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) on behalf of the Government of Canada, will modernize critical airfield lighting infrastructure supporting safe aircraft operations into Penticton. The tender documentation identifies the project as Contract No. CW2457025 and Project No. EZ899-270168.
Project Scope
Our team will complete the replacement of the existing Runway 16 Omni-Directional Approach Lighting System (ODALS), including:
• Replacement of ODALS flashheads
• Replacement of power converters
• Replacement of airfield isolation transformers
• Installation of new series airfield lighting cable
• Inspection and rehabilitation of pull boxes, handholes and underground infrastructure
• Removal and environmentally responsible disposal of obsolete equipment and materials
• Testing, commissioning and return to operational service
Airfield lighting systems are critical components of aviation safety, providing pilots with enhanced visual guidance during night operations and reduced visibility conditions. Successful delivery requires careful coordination with airport operations, strict adherence to airside safety protocols, and meticulous commissioning to maintain operational reliability.

Project Complete | Operational Readiness Achieved at Vernon Military Camp

CFTA & Public Procurement — What Actually Matters

In publicly funded construction, the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) is often referenced—but not always understood in practice.

Key provisions:

🔹 Article 503(3)(a) – Impartiality
Procurement must be fair and unbiased to all suppliers. This goes beyond posting a tender—it’s about whether qualified bidders can truly compete.

🔹 Article 504(3)(b)(ii) – Thresholds
Once projects meet applicable thresholds, procurement must follow open, transparent, and non-discriminatory principles.

🔹 Article 509(3) – Performance-Based Specs
Specifications should focus on performance and function—not restrictive design.
👉 Equivalent solutions must be capable of being considered.

🔹 Article 509(4) – Conflicts of Interest
Procurement must avoid influence from parties with a commercial interest in the outcome.

🔍 Where issues arise

Most tenders today are:
✔️ Publicly posted
✔️ Formally open
✔️ Compliant on paper

But the real question is:

👉 Can a qualified competitor realistically bid at tender close?
