As we move into cooler weather its time to start thinking about preparing our ponds for winter.

Our koi and goldfish are now ready to switch to a wheat germ based food. We have both the Hikari and Microbe-lift cold weather foods in stock.

Cold weather treatments/bacteria will help prepare our ponds for winter, and help reduce ammonia build up over winter once we shut off our filters.

Leaving an air pump running all winter is a MUST! We a a few different sizes of Laguna air pumps to suit your ponds’ needs.

With the Aquascape Smart Thermometer you can keep an eye on your water temperature throughout the year. This thermometer works through an app on your smart phone so you can monitor the temperature anywhere anytime! The app also keeps track of the temperature and creates a historical graph showing you the changes over time.

Our regular business hours will end on Sunday, October 11, after Thanksgiving we will be open by appointment only. Please don’t hesitate to call or message anytime over the off-season — we are always here to help!

The summer is beginning to wind down, but there is still lots of warm weather left. Which means our koi are still wanting to eat lots. They may even have more of an appetite now the water is cooling off some as they begin to prepare for winter.

Adequate and ample nutrients before winter is necessary for koi health during winter as they go dormant and stop eating. We have lots of high quality koi food for the remaining summer months as well as a fresh selection of Wheat Germ for the upcoming fall months.

Now is also a great time to add another koi or two to you pond. Your new koi will have plenty of time to adapt before winter and will be a colourful addition to the beauty of fall.

Shown in the photos in an Ochiba we have available. Ochiba, translates to “autumn leaves floating on water”.We also have lots of other BIG koi that are looking for their forever ponds, a few seen in the short underwater video clip!

Message us if you have a specific colour or type of adult koi you are looking for and we will let you know and can send photos, or come by and make us offer on your favourite one, two, or three…!
