The steps NO ONE shows you when adding a new bathroom... 🛠️👇
Before the nice tile and vanity gets installed there’s a whole lot of dirty work buried under your slab. Here’s what actually goes into the hidden phase of a bathroom build:
📍 Locate & Tie In: You have to trace your existing lines and plan the route for the new plumbing layout.
🔨 Chip & Save: Break up the concrete slab to access the ground below. Pro tip: Save the gravel aggregate, you’ll need it to backfill later!
⚠️ Dig Smart: The most critical part! Underground gas lines, electrical, or existing pipes can be hiding right under the surface. Break one, and your project cost doubles.
👨🔧 The Plumber’s Go-Ahead: Always have a licensed & insured plumber handle the rough-in and pass inspection before you seal anything back up.
🥣 Concrete & Cure: Backfill with your saved aggregate and pour fresh concrete. A thorough, even mix is key to structural strength so it cures rock-hard without cracking.
✨ Smooth Finish: Get it as flat as possible now so you don’t fight it later. (You can always run a self-leveler after curing for a perfectly flat subfloor).
Once that slab cures... the fun part begins! 🧱✨
