If your skin is dry and your house feels like a desert, your central humidifier might be completely failing you.

Don't panic—you can test it yourself in under 60 seconds with this simple check:
1️⃣ The Winter Switch: Locate your damper bypass valve on the furnace. Flip it from "Summer" to "Winter" so actual air can flow through.
2️⃣ The Humidistat Test: Crank the dial up to Maximum. Listen closely for a click.
3️⃣ Look for Water: Check the bottom drain tube. Within a few minutes, water should be actively draining.

⚠️ THE #1 REASON THEY FAIL:Your central humidifier pad needs to be replaced every 2 to 3 years! However, if you live in the Waterloo Region (Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge), our notoriously hard water causes severe mineral and calcium buildup much faster. If your pad looks like a white, crusty science project, it’s completely blocking your airflow.
