A beauty!

MASSIVE Black Walnut! This tree Black walnut trees are native to eastern North America and are highly valued for their strong, dark wood used in furniture, paneling, and gunstocks. They are also known for their edible nuts, which are a rich source of calories and nutrients. Additionally, these trees produce a toxic substance called juglone, which can inhibit the growth of some other plants, and their husks have been used to create dyes..
This tree is located in Upstate NY.

AMAZING BARK! In forests, some trees have thick/coarse, rough bark, while others have thin, smooth bark. Some trees have scaly, thorny, or flaky bark. When it rains, bark acts like a sponge, absorbing water. Therefore, bark characteristics can be an important factor to consider when planting trees to help reduce flood risk.

Beaver’s tree around Chełm, Lublin, Poland.
Beavers chew halfway through a tree for a few reasons. One reason is to gather food. Beavers eat the soft layer of wood found just beneath the bark of trees, so they chew through the trunk to access this nutritious part of the tree. Another reason is for building their dams and lodges. By partially chewing through trees, beavers create the raw materials they need for constructing these structures. Additionally, chewing through trees helps to keep the beavers’ teeth from growing too long, as they continuously grow throughout their lives. Photo: Dariusz Kostecki

The Oaxaca Tree, in Mexico, is the tree with the largest trunk diameter in the world. Its circumference reaches almost 197 feet (almost 60 meters) and it has a height of almost 138 feet (42 meters). Its approximate age is 2,000 years. A true ancient of the forest!😲🌳🪵

The Ent Tree is an ancient oak pollard in Staffordshire, England, believed to be the inspiration for J.R.R. Tolkien’s Ents in The Lord of the Rings because of its distinctive, human-like form. Tolkien trained in the area during World War I and may have seen the tree, which has a gnarled trunk and branches that resemble a face and arms. Its natural human-like appearance is thought to have inspired Tolkien’s Treebeard character. Since Tolkien was in the general area during the First World War it’s possible that this tree served as an inspiration. Instagram.com/bigtreehunters
