What a vision, what a project!

An old home with a bathroom that would hopefully have made the original builders proud.

Words can only describe so much, so I’ll leave you more pictures instead. ☺️

(Although I will say that the bathroom floor AND shower pan have underfloor heat 🤗)

But I do need to give a shoutout to our team, who helped this project come to life:

Plumbing: with Dylan Paterson, who not only cares about the “wet” part of plumbing, but very much about the importance of venting as well.

Electrical: Jason Ault from Grounded Electrical Contractors, who places boxes and fixtures where they need to go, and ensures my underfloor heat cables have the dedicated circuit they need.

Glass will be installed after the fact, at which point we’ll be giving you a further update.

Despite the striking blue, calculated symmetry and upbeat music, I can’t help but think of Jon Snow muttering “The Wall”, every time it look at it.

So that’s what I’ll call our latest little project. The Wall!

A truly delightful challenge from start to finish. If you want to see some excerpts from the rough-in phase, check out for the video about how we communicate with clients that are away during their renovation.

And now, as pictures tell a thousand words, I’ll keep this write up relatively short.

First, a big thanks to:

- Stewart from for sorting out this lovely 2x2’ tile
- Jordan from for the custom vanity and cabinet
- for the beautiful countertop

And of course Terri from our sister company for arranging and managing the job from start to finish.

Now for the quick run-down:

At 68” wide we opted for a fully custom envelope shower pan, deciding to keep the same tile throughout - even for the curb. A 40” glass panel offers a good size wet area, without making the room feel smaller with an imposing full-width shower door. But even those few splashes that might escape are not an issue, as the full tile walls essentially make it a wet room.
The shower valve has been placed by the shower entrance so you can easily turn on the water before you step in. Two smart grab bars (that perfectly match the shower hardware), give extra confidence when stepping in and out, as well as when showering. A full-size 2x2’ niche gives ample space for the biggest toiletries you can buy, while remaining visually pleasing and symmetrical within the shower.
The pot light above the shower, as well as the backlit mirror, are both dimmable, meaning that “atmosphere” is just a sliding motion away.
