2025 Manitoba Trade Contractor Safety Leadership Award Nomination
On behalf of the Neepawa Health Centre Project Team, we are pleased to nominate Sunco Drywall Ltd. for the 2025 Bird Trade Partner Leadership Award!
Throughout 2025, Sunco has consistently demonstrated what it truly means to be a trade partner by fully embracing and upholding the safety commitments required on the Neepawa Health Centre project. Their proactive approach and unwavering dedication to maintaining a safe work culture have made them an exemplary partner on our site.
Sunco has diligently complied with all site protocols, being proactive with site orientation requirements, submitting training records, and maintaining clear and timely communication.
Their supervisors actively review worker hazard assessments in the field, ensuring that all team members are assessing their work areas for hazards, remaining accountable for conducting applicable inspections and adhering to PPE requirements at all times.
Sunco’s engagement extends beyond compliance. They hold weekly toolbox sessions for their workforce in multiple languages. Ensuring that critical safety information is clearly understood
by all crew members—regardless of language barriers—they have created a culture where communication, accountability, and hazard awareness are upheld across their diverse team.
They are active contributors to our Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, providing valuable insight and collaboration. Each month, they submit detailed site inspections with
corrective actions that promote continuous improvement and strengthen the safety culture across the project.
Importantly, Sunco holds itself accountable to the highest safety standards. They enforce Bird’s site safety rules rigorously, taking internal disciplinary action when necessary to ensure that all workers understand the importance of compliance and responsibility. Delivery drivers and third-party suppliers are held to the same standards as on-site workers; with clear requirements for PPE and safe unloading practices as highlighted in their material handling plan.
For these reasons, and in recognition of their continued excellence in advancing health and safety culture, the Neepawa Health Centre Project Team is proud to nominate Sunco Drywall Ltd. for the Bird 2025 Trade Partner Leadership Award. Their commitment, professionalism, and proactive partnership set an outstanding example for all trade partners across our projects.
