On September 29th, the Emil Anderson-Aecon General Partnership paused work at the Highway 1 Bruhn Bridge Project site to observe Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The project is located in an area of significant cultural and historical importance, and we are proud to partner with Splatsin Development Corporation and the Splatsin community on its construction.

We were honoured to hear from Splatsin leadership, cultural leaders, and Elders. We are grateful for the time spent together and for the reminder that reconciliation is a shared and ongoing responsibility, grounded in listening, learning, truth, and action.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation | September 30

On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

This day is an opportunity to deepen our understanding, engage in meaningful conversations, and recognize the histories, cultures, experiences, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples.

As a company that builds throughout British Columbia, we carry out our work on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of First Nations. We do not take this for granted.

At Emil Anderson Group, we recognize that reconciliation requires more than words. It calls on us to listen, learn, reflect, and take meaningful action as we continue building respectful relationships with Indigenous communities.

Building community—one project at a time.

EAC’s KLO Bridge team recently provided an in-kind donation to the Okanagan Fruit Tree Project, a local charity that supplies fresh fruit and vegetables to food banks and organizations supporting people in need throughout the Okanagan.

Our crew prepared a 15 m × 15 m gravel pad at the organization’s Spiers Road property, creating a solid foundation for shipping containers that will provide much-needed tool and short-term food storage.

Thank you to Mike Berthelsen and Dan McCauley for coordinating the work, and to the entire KLO Bridge crew for contributing their time, skills and equipment to support this important community organization.

We’re proud to help the Okanagan Fruit Tree Project expand its capacity and continue delivering fresh, locally grown food to those who need it most.

🚧 The Finish Line Is in Sight on the Glenmore Project 🚧

While there are still a couple of months of work ahead, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible efforts of the team behind the Glenmore Project for the City of Kelowna.

Over the past several months, the men and women of Emil Anderson Construction have shown exceptional dedication, working days, nights, weekends, and everything in between to keep this critical infrastructure project moving forward. Through challenging conditions, including thick wildfire smoke and blistering summer heat, our crews have continued to show up, put in the work, and remain focused on delivering a quality project for the community.

As we enter the final stretch, it's important to acknowledge the operators, labourers, foremen, supervisors, engineers, mechanics, truck drivers, and support staff whose hard work has brought the project to this stage. Their commitment, resilience, and professionalism have been the driving force behind the success we've achieved so far.

While the project isn't complete just yet, we're incredibly proud of what this team has accomplished and grateful for the effort they continue to bring every day. Soon, residents and commuters will benefit from a significantly improved piece of transportation infrastructure that will serve the City of Kelowna for years to come.

To our entire crew: thank you. The long hours, the tough conditions, and the dedication you've shown do not go unnoticed. We're looking forward to crossing the finish line together.

EAC recently had the pleasure of having some of our Senior Leadership visit the Brucejack project site to get a firsthand look at the incredible work taking place there and to have our Vice President of Safety, Steve Howe, share the Steve Howe story.

It's been very impressive to see Newmont's strong safety culture and unwavering commitment to the Always Safe program being implemented on site and practiced daily, and it was a pleasure to be able to contribute to this safety program.

It's encouraging to see the significant progress being made by our EAC crews and the Newmont team in a remote and challenging natural environment, while maintaining a steadfast safety-first mindset every step of the way.

Building strong communities means showing up beyond the job site.

This August 28th, Emil Anderson Construction is proud to attend the Skwlāx te Secwepemcúl̓ecw 'School of Rock' Golf Tournament and Fundraiser at Talking Rock Golf Course and Quaaout Lodge. We look forward to sharing a great day on the course with our First Nations partners.

Wildfires continue to impact communities across British Columbia including many of the places where our employees live, our teams work and Emil Anderson Group has longstanding connections.

Through EA Cares, EAG has established a dedicated Wildfire Relief Committee to help identify where support is needed and coordinate how our organization can help.

We know support can take many forms. Across our group of companies, efforts may include financial contributions, equipment, materials, services and expertise, work-in-kind, and volunteer support from our employees, allowing us to respond to the needs of communities as they emerge.

Our employees and community connections are an important part of this effort. Emil Anderson Construction is proud to partner with the BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit on the Peardonville project, part of the Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program.

The project includes replacing the existing Peardonville Road underpass, adding bike lanes and sidewalks to the new structure, improving adjacent roads at both the north and south approaches, widening approximately 1.6 kilometres of Highway 1, and adding HOV/EV and bus-on-shoulder lanes.

A huge shoutout to the Emil Anderson Construction (EAC) team for their outstanding work at Kelowna International Airport (YLW) this construction season!

Led by Will Lawlor (Project Manager), Steven Pearce (Superintendent), Connor Berno (Project Coordinator), Ty Cridland (Field Supervisor), and Jaron Burr (Field Supervisor), the team has worked tirelessly, day and night, to successfully deliver critical infrastructure improvements while meeting the airport's demanding operational schedule.

From navigating complex procurement challenges to carefully coordinating work around active airport operations, the team's dedication, flexibility, and problem-solving ensured projects progressed safely and efficiently without impacting airport traffic or the passenger experience.

Success on projects of this scale is always a team effort. A sincere thank you goes out to the entire YLW team for their partnership, collaboration, and support throughout the season, as well as to all of the subcontractors and trade partners whose hard work and commitment helped bring these projects across the finish line.

We're proud of what has been accomplished together and grateful for everyone who played a role in making this season a success.
