The Annual EAC Grand Slam Get-Together brought our crew together for a day of softball, friendly competition, and good company. Days like this are a reflection of the culture we've built and continue to invest in. When our people connect, collaborate, and show up for each other outside of the jobsite, every one of our core values comes to life. That's worth celebrating! And with a $5,000 STAR Card draw on the line, there was plenty to get excited about.

Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a great one.

EAC marks 40 years since completing its work on the Coquihalla Highway, a defining milestone in our history. In 1984–85 we built 24.2 km of grading and paved 28.07 km between Murray Bridge and Glenwalker, and engineered critical avalanche protection in Boston Bar Creek valley, including dams, containment basins, diversion trenches, benches, and the Great Bear Snowshed.

The project was under the leadership of Bob Hasell, and now his son Robert Hasell serves as President and CEO of Emil Anderson Group. Forty years later, the project still stands as a testament to innovation, grit, and engineering excellence, and endures as a cornerstone of British Columbia’s infrastructure.

Years ago, EAC supported the development of UBC Okanagan’s Strong Floor, completing excavation and site work that laid the foundation for this unique facility.

Now home to a powerful reaction wall used for advanced structural testing, the space continues to push engineering forward.

We’re proud to have been part of a project that’s still making an impact today.

You may notice a familiar face in the second row: Bob Hasell, former EAC President and grandson of our founder, Emil Anderson. The family legacy continues today with Bob’s son, Robert Hasell, serving as President and CEO of Emil Anderson Group. That’s four generations of family-run business!

As the world turns its attention to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, we are proud to reflect on Emil Anderson Construction’s role in delivering venues for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

In 2005, EAC was contracted by VANOC to complete the roadworks and utilities installation for the Whistler Sliding Centre, including significant rock excavation, retaining walls, drainage systems, storm sewer, and water lines. This strong collaboration led to EAC constructing the bobsleigh and luge track, now recognized as the fastest bobsleigh track in the world. The track construction project received the 2008 Century Award and Public Works Award from the Concrete Construction Association.

EAC also delivered major site works at the Nordic Competition Venue, now Whistler Olympic Park. Beginning in 2006, the team completed grading, utilities, roadworks, and the technically demanding landing hill excavation. In 2007, construction of the ski jump structure followed, including the steel jump, judges’ tower, and snow-making and refrigeration systems. The venue hosted its first competition in January 2008.

We are honoured to have contributed to facilities that welcomed the world and continue to serve athletes and the community today.
