This was never supposed to become a brand-new pool.

We originally came in to update the existing pool deck—but sometimes a project takes an unexpected turn, and the plan becomes much bigger than anyone anticipated.

To Janelle Boyle and Jeremy: thank you so much for trusting us through this entire process. We know this wasn’t what you planned on taking on this year, and we don’t take your trust lightly. Seeing the finished space - and reading how much it already means to your family - makes all the hard work completely worth it.

Because this was never just about building a pool or pouring a new piece of concrete.

You open Instagram for 5 minutes and suddenly:

Apparently AI is taking everyone's jobs... 🤖

Meanwhile our crew this week:

✔ Building forms

✔ Tying rebar

✔ Pouring concrete

✔ Finishing slabs

✔ Fixing problems

✔ Working through the Okanagan heat

Don't get us wrong...

AI is pretty incredible.

But if it wants to take over concrete work, it's going to need steel-toe boots, a strong back, and the ability to survive on coffee and questionable lunch choices. 😂

Until then, we'll keep showing up and building the stuff that actually gets people excited about their homes.

Suddenly:

A couple friends turns into twelve people, three coolers, two lawn games, and somebody asking where you got your fire pit. 🔥🍻

Funny how nobody wanted to hang out when the backyard was just weeds, cracked concrete, and a dream. 🤣

We need everyone's honest opinion...

Would you rather spend your summer:

🍹 Drinking wine around a beautiful fire table

🍔 Hosting BBQs with friends

☀️ Soaking up the sunshine on a gorgeous patio

OR...

🚑 Explaining to your guests where all the trip hazards are

We are not the same. 😂

Another exposed aggregate driveway in the books and we're pretty pumped with how this one turned out.

The clients are happy. The crew is happy. And honestly, we're a little too excited about rocks showing through concrete.

But after nearly 20 years in the business, seeing a project come together never gets old.

Big shoutout to the Beyond Basics crew for another awesome pour and another happy client. 👊

Now excuse us while we stare at this driveway longer than is probably socially acceptable.
