Have you ever wanted to grow your own cut flowers?
These are some of our tried and true fillers that are an absolute must in the cutting garden! Feverfew, apple mint, yarrow, wild rose greenery, raspberry... We use them abundantly in our bouqets and arrangements all season long!
I've even used other unconventional fillers like broccoli flowers, grasses, sedums, mock orange and other native plants to fill bouquets and they are sturdy and beautiful! It's really fun to experiment with fillers and see how they complete and compliment the big beautiful blooms like dahlias, for instance.
All of these fillers are also perennials which means they will come back ( and stronger) every year, require little maintenance, have lower water needs, are excellent for pollinators and help our local ecosystem.
Fall is the optimum time to plant these perennials as they get strong roots and will get a jump-start for the spring! The flower stand will have oodles of them this wekeend!! Come grab some for your garden, fall planting, or if you are looking to start cut flowers, these are essential for your garden too!
