Earlier this year, Daniel left our warehouse to start an electrical apprenticeship. He loved learning in the field, but the repetitive work took a toll on his hands, and he made the call to step back into materials handling.

When he sent in his resignation, it was declined. Our team had already found a way to bring him back to the warehouse, where he keeps our technicians stocked and ready for every job.

Changing direction doesn't always mean starting over. Sometimes it means having a team that has your back.

At Kelowna International Airport, emergency services and airport operations now run under one roof, and Kimco Controls built the automation system that keeps it all coordinated.

Three heat pumps, two energy recovery ventilators, 15 fan coil units, VAV systems and in-slab radiant heating in the truck bays, all monitored and controlled from one centralized system. Plus built-in life safety monitoring, from gas detection to backup generator status.

It's a great example of what's possible when HVAC, automation and electrical all come from one team.

Forty years ago, Kimco Controls started as a small Kelowna partnership. Today, we're the exclusive Delta Controls dealer across BC's Interior, the only company in the region offering it.

But this milestone has always been about more than the technology. It's about the people: longtime employees who've become part owners, apprentices we're training up, and community partners like the Boys and Girls Club of the Okanagan.

Two people, two very different tenures, one shared reason to celebrate.

Blaire has spent 2 years keeping our automation construction projects on track. Chris has spent 28 years showing up for our service clients, carrying knowledge about this industry you simply can't fast-track.

We marked both milestones the same way: a round of golf at Kelowna Springs, then lunch on the patio at Peak Cellars, vineyards and mountains in every direction.

Blaire, thanks for being someone this team can count on. Chris, 28 years is nearly the full history of Kimco itself, and we're grateful you've spent so much of it with us.

At Kimco, our projects take many forms, but they all share one thing in common: helping build stronger communities.

We're proud to have worked on the building automation systems at the new Akisqnuk Multipurpose Centre for ʔakisq̓nuk First Nation, coordinating the heating, cooling, and ventilation across the Health Centre, administrative spaces, and Community/Band Hall.

Behind every system is a simple purpose: helping create spaces where people can work, receive care, gather, and connect.

We're grateful for the chance to be part of this project, and to keep working alongside communities across BC to build a stronger future, one project at a time.
