September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Today, we honour the Survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and the families and communities who continue to be affected.

We acknowledge that our business is located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan people.

May we take time to listen, learn and reflect on our shared responsibility in the ongoing journey toward reconciliation.

Every Child Matters. 🧡

⚡ Sparky’s Tips: What Is a Service Upgrade?

Your home’s electrical needs are changing! From EV chargers and hot tubs to solar, renovations and new appliances, today’s homes can require a lot more power than older electrical systems were originally designed to handle. 🏡⚡

A service upgrade increases the amount of electrical power available to your home, giving your system the capacity to safely handle both your current and future electrical needs.

💡 Sparky says you may want to consider a service upgrade if you’re:

🚗 Installing an EV charger
☀️ Preparing for solar
♨️ Adding a hot tub or other high-demand equipment
🏠 Planning a renovation, addition or secondary suite
⚡ Experiencing limitations with an older electrical system
🔌 Looking to future-proof your home

Not sure what size electrical service you have or whether an upgrade is necessary? That’s where we come in! Our team can assess your current electrical system and help determine what makes sense for your home.

⚡ 5 Signs Your Electrical Panel May Need Upgrading

Your electrical panel is the heart of your home’s electrical system—but how do you know when it’s time for an upgrade?

Here are 5 signs to watch for:

1️⃣ Your breakers trip frequently
A breaker that regularly trips could mean your electrical system is struggling with the demand being placed on it.

2️⃣ You’re running out of space in your panel
Planning a renovation or adding new electrical equipment? An older or full panel can limit your options.

3️⃣ You’re adding an EV charger, hot tub, solar or heat pump
These can add significant electrical demand to your home. Your existing service should be assessed before installation.

4️⃣ Your home still has an older electrical service
Many older Okanagan homes were built for significantly lower electrical demands than we have today.

5️⃣ You’re planning a major renovation or secondary suite
More appliances, heating, lighting and other electrical loads can mean your existing service no longer has the capacity you need.

⚠️ Seeing one of these signs doesn't automatically mean you need a service upgrade.

That's why Canwire Electric offers free electrical assessments. We’ll look at your existing system, discuss what you're planning for your home and help determine what you actually need.

📞 Thinking about an electrical upgrade? Give Canwire Electric a call.
