For safety's sake!
Planning on installing a pool or setting up a hot tub in your yard this summer?
Take note that there are new electrical safety regulations that came into effect in the latest version of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code that have new bonding requirements. This includes installation of grounding wiring around and under the pool, as well as connecting to all metal parts of the pool, rebar and pool equipment. Even permanently installed hot tubs must meet the bonding requirements.
A professional pool installer should already be familiar with these requirements, but if you decide to tackle the project yourself, you may not be aware of these electrical safety requirements. You can also consult with an electrical contractor before doing any work.
If these requirements are not met, you will have to demolish and rebuilt all non compliant installations and redo the work correctly before any electrical connections can be made to your pool equipment or hot tub. This will cause extra expensed and delays in your yard project!
