If you’ve ever wondered why it’s so expensive to hire a legitimate hvac technician that operates legally, the safety authority that governs part of our industry just charged us $368 to change our company name from Bowler Heating and Air Conditioning to Bowler Heating and Air Conditioning Inc. This is on top of the $478.40 that is charged on an annual basis. Once every 3 years we’re audited to make sure we’re doing things properly and safely, which is important and necessary. Their hourly rate is $135/hr plus tax and can include driving time. Admittedly their job is at times difficult, time-consuming and not fun, but I can’t help but wonder where all the money goes?

Regardless, this is one of the many reasons hiring an hvac professional costs so much. The safety authority performs the necessary job of ensuring “technicians” and so-called “trunk slammers” don’t kill people, or burn down houses and we all have to pay them something to do so.

Ac maintenance season is here! So here's a little before and after on a 4 year old unit that was never maintained. This was what it looked like under the grill that I took off. The customer noted it immediately sounded much quieter after the cleaning was done. Which is a sign of a blocked coil, as well as running inefficiently. Be sure to book your maintenance!
