Another incredible floor. After suffering a major flood we were called in to install this new Fir / Pine floor for the Mike Wiegele helicopter skiing lodge.
It's held down with 650 Lag bolts, 5 pales of silane based Bona Quantum glue with a ยผ" trowel spread across the entire substrate. We self leveled the entire floor first to ensure maximum grab with no hollow points. Every edge and joint was caulked with black silicone.
The next tricky task was making this floor look aged. This involved wire brushing, adding faux mill marks, hand scraping select areas, staining it, and literally beating it with a hammer.
What sets it apart.
The interlayer coatings.
Bona supersport sealer X2
2 coats of polyaspartic
2 coats of Bona mega extra matte
The lag bolts ensure the wood cannot cup.
This makes the floor completely waterproof.
Polyaspartic is 4x stronger than epoxy.
The extra matte finish knocks the sheen down to a beautiful natural wood look.
Come ski season, this floor is now an absolute tank and will handle mud, snow and salt no problem.
On the other hand we refinished their dinning room floors and 4 flights of stairs.
We are proud to say we did this job.
