Here’s a throwback of a pretty big day we had in Wawa 2 summers ago— We started off with a simple trim to provide this wonderful view of the great wilderness surrounding Wawa! We followed this up with some beachfront removals of dead poplars and a dying spruce to make for a long but satisfying day!

Our second day started with a very tidy hedge trim and a couple spruce that needed a bit of a lift off the lawn. To end our day and the trip we removed a large spruce from a cottage on Wawa lake and we were able to flop the top from about 10ft!

Overall a great trip and we are excited to be back servicing the Wawa area!

It’s not Thursday yet but, here is a throwback from two summers ago in 2024 and our first day of servicing Manitouwadge!
We started our day with a spruce that had simply out grown its space and needed to come down before it became an unhealthy hazard that leaned right over the roof! We finished the day with some smaller trims and removals and then headed back to Hornepayne.

Rather than risk the “free fall” of regular felling this close to the customers home we used some rigging knowledge and had complete control over the fall of this tree

Another exciting job in our hometown of Hornepayne!

Customer had a tree next to her house come down and was worried about the health of her poplars.

After inspection we noticed some compromised trees and also an abundance of large dead limbs and tops. After removing two compromised trees next to the house we tackled the dead limbs and tops. Then we removed one compromised poplar in the back yard that was threatening the house in the event of a failure.

This job marks our best year in Hornepayne yet and we are very thankful to everyone who has reached out to us for their tree care needs!

We recently trimmed some Eastern White Pines away from the service line and the roof line in Hornepayne and so we saw this as an opportunity to spread some information about the provincial tree of Ontario!

Eastern White Pine (Pinus Strobus)
20-40m tall
60-140cm diameter
Thin Needles grown in bunches of 5
Dark grey/brown bark with broad ridges
Found all over Ontario and Canada except the Far North. We only have a handful around Hornepayne so we are definitely reaching its limit in our area.

Large cones up to 20cm long being produced every 3-5 years in mature trees

Grows best in sand or sandy loam but will grow in multiple different soils

Grow very fast so it’s great for privacy and sight line blocking

Also a valuable food source for many birds and small mammals and a sought after commercial lumber tree many for different wood products such as Interior finishes and caskets.

Climbing these trees can be extremely rewarding and fun but will also leave you with a lasting memory in the form of pitch (sap) all over your body and equipments
