Not something you see every day.

One of the things we love about working on Georgian Bay is that no two days look the same.

Some days we’re drilling into bedrock.
Some days we’re rebuilding waterfront structures.
And some days we’re unloading an entire building from a barge onto an island property.

Getting materials and equipment to site is often just as important as the construction itself.

It’s challenging work, but it’s also what makes building on the Bay different.

And if we’re being honest, it’s a pretty good way to spend a day.

For over 50 years, we’ve had the privilege of working in this environment, and with that comes a responsibility to treat it with respect.

Every project starts with understanding the landscape, planning carefully, and finding the best way to build while preserving what makes the property special in the first place.

A lot of waterfront landscaping looks good for the first couple summers.

The real test is what it looks like after ten Georgian Bay winters, changing water levels, freeze thaw cycles, and years of everyday use.

That’s why we build with natural stone and build it properly from the start.

Granite and limestone retaining walls built for strength and longevity. Flagstone patios, walkways, and stair systems designed to feel natural to the property while staying solid, safe, and low maintenance over time.

Good shoreline work should hold up to the conditions, fit the landscape properly, and still look right years down the road.

Before the dock goes in or the boathouse takes shape, the groundwork has to be done properly.

On Georgian Bay, that can mean dredging, excavation, grading, road building, septic installation, or preparing a site where access alone is half the challenge.

A lot of the work we do happens long before the finished project starts to come together, but it’s what everything else depends on.

Rock, water access, changing conditions, tight timelines… we’ve been working through it all on Georgian Bay for over 50 years.

Working on Georgian Bay means dealing with rock, water, weather, access, and conditions that change constantly. That’s why the work below the surface matters just as much as what you see at the end.

From steel foundations and shoreline structures to restoration work and full custom waterfront builds, every part of a project like this has to be planned for the long term.

Not your average drill bit.

Most people never see this side of a waterfront build.

This is our large diameter rock drill, built to cut straight into Georgian Bay granite with a hole over 5 inches wide making way for steel piles and heavy foundation work below the surface.

Out here, proper foundation work isn’t something you shortcut.

This is the kind of equipment that makes some of the bigger waterfront projects possible, and honestly, it’s just pretty cool to watch work.

A boathouse should feel like part of the property, not something added as an afterthought.

Some projects start from the ground up. Others involve rebuilding aging structures, replacing foundations, or redesigning layouts to work better for how the property is actually used.

A lot goes into getting those details right on Georgian Bay. Steel framing, proper foundation work, shoreline access, water conditions, and winter exposure all play a role in how a structure performs over time.

Most people only ever see the finished result. The part that looks effortless.

Rock, elevation, access, and shoreline conditions all shape how a project comes together.

From new builds and major renovations to cottage raises and shoreline work, a lot of what we do starts long before the finished spaces take shape.

There’s a huge amount of planning, coordination, and groundwork behind projects like this, but that’s what makes the end result so rewarding.

On Georgian Bay, your dock isn’t just a dock, it’s your front door.

For a lot of properties, everything starts there. Getting in, getting out, moving people, moving materials.

And the conditions aren’t easy on it. Wind, waves, changing water levels, ice in the winter… it all adds up.

Stairs, landings and shoreline setups take more wear and tear than most people expect.

If it’s done right, you don’t think about it and I t just works.

If it’s not, it becomes a problem pretty quickly.

We’ve been building on Georgian Bay for over 50 years. Everything we do is designed for the conditions here. Low maintenance where it matters, and done properly from the start.
