Let’s talk FOOTINGS!

Footings are the wide concrete bases beneath foundation walls and support posts. They spread the weight of a building across the ground, helping prevent sinking and uneven settling.

Think of snowshoes: they spread your weight across the snow so you don’t sink. Footings do the same thing for your home!

Before foundation walls go up, the site is excavated to suitable soil, we form the footings and pour the concrete, with steel reinforcement where specified. Their size depends on the weight they need to support and the soil beneath them.

Proper ground preparation, accurate placement and the right dimensions all matter. Once covered, footings quietly do their job every day.

At Nigh’s Concrete Forming, our name is on every project—and we take great pride in that. We also believe the best results come from working alongside exceptional builders, suppliers, tradespeople and fellow professionals in the concrete industry from drivers to suppliers.

This week, we enlisted Jake from Nanticoke Concrete Finishing to help us create this beautiful stamped-concrete pad. Our crew poured the concrete, Jake completed the stamping while sharing his knowledge and techniques along the way, and then our team stripped and finished the project.

This is coloured concrete, and it’s important to remember that colour is not an exact science. Everyone may envision a shade a little differently, but we work carefully to achieve a finished colour as close to the chosen sample and vision as possible.

There is room for everyone in this industry. We respect great workmanship, value collaboration and are always happy to work with other exceptional professionals. When skilled people share their knowledge and work together, everyone becomes stronger—and the customer receives the very best result. And really, that’s what it’s all about.

When good things happen to hard working team players, it’s great to cheer! Here’s Jordan’s hard working daughter and her team, representing Ontario at Easterns this weekend! We are proud of her and all her team!

The Haldimand Heat U17 2010 girls are taking their golden summer east after an undefeated run at provincials earned them the chance to represent Ontario on the national stage.

The team will head to the Eastern Canadian Championship in Fredericton, New Brunswick from August 20-23.
